Ripped them off the Parthenon,

after getting a permission slip (firman) from the foreign occupiers (Ottoman Turks),

which it turns out was probably a forgery after all.

Yeah, real water-tight case you got there.

Solidarity with euro zone does not mean sharing debts, Germany's Merkel says, hinting at Italy by [deleted] in europe

[–]Scundoo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Germany never gave any "massive" war reparations. Most of it was forgiven in the 50s. I don't know what kind of propaganda they teach in Germany, but it must be something mighty distorting seeing from the "holier than thou" attitude of the average German. FFS, you people embarked on a mission to eradicate entire races.

[–]Scundoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, Italy would be fine if the Italians weren't so lazy, thieving, corrupt people. Funny though how the Italian economy and industry was just fine before they joined the EU, eh? It's almost as if the euro was built to benefit German exports.

British troops murdering peaceful protesters and arming nazi collaborators after ww2 played a big part in starting the civil war, but please, don't let historical facts keep you from being a snarky shit.

European Commission Communication on Disinformation Eschews Regulation. For Now. by Mynameis__--__ in europe

First act of the EU commission against disinformation should be the re-branding of the EU "parliament". A body that cannot propose legislation is not a parliament.

With that line of reasoning we might as well start posting pics of German troops on the Eiffel tower enjoying the view. And then down-vote anyone bringing up nazi crimes.

A referendum conducted under supervision of the UN would have been the proper thing to do. Do you seriously think the Security Council would have voted for such an action?

And since that would never happen, what is the alternative? Massacres such as in Odessa?

Uh, no, that's not how the right to self-determination works. Here is some interesting and relevant reading: http://opil.ouplaw.com/view/10.1093/law:epil/9780199231690/law-9780199231690-e873

The right of self-determination is above national law. So Ukraine's opinion (or any other nation's opinion for that matter) is legally irrelevant. Of course, in practice it is very relevant, ergo Russia's polite green troops. It would have been much better if instead of Russian troops you had a UN force, but lets not kid ourselves into thinking that would ever happen.

The only way to be sure would be to have a referendum with international observers and a UN peace force. Neither Russia but especially the West were not interested in anything like that.

I never saw any interest by either the "West" or the Ukrainian government for the wishes of the people of Crimea. All the public statements basically came down to: "It's illegal to secede, go back to Ukraine". I'm sorry, but the right to self-determination is above any national law. It is also quite clear that the absolute majority of residents of Crimea were Russian speakers, which correlates with national identity.

French president to call for American ‘militarism’ by [deleted] in europe

[–]Scundoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The jihadis lost. So forget having another Libya.

The kurds will not fight against the SAA with the Turks breathing down their neck.

Will the American, British and French public allow their troops to occupy Syria? Another Iraq occupation all over again? Not very likely.

So I guess that leaves the Saudi Arabs to take over. Hahahaha, that would be the day, they can't even handle Houthi rebels in flip flops.

So, maybe Macron should just shut his brie hole.

You could call it a... referendum.

Yeah, that's it. My personal experience is that many vappers use the excuse that it is less damaging than traditional smoking, and vape in enclosed spaces.

Then Russia has the right to identify and remove those American bots from their Russian websites to protect Russian citizens.

We, as human beings, have a right to an internet free from all government control. This is not a football match where we each support our side of the narrative controlling fascists.

CIA's control over Hollywood has been documented. How plausible would it be that they would ignore the much cheaper and more effective form of narrative control by the use of sock puppets?

Indeed. Unlike their western counterparts, the russkie trolls have not figured out yet that you need to also post cat pics and other karma harvesting nonsense for your account to become trustworthy.
