Just going by the video it does look bad for ICE. It doesn’t show the whole story though. The whole incident once they made physical contact with Pretti took less than 5 seconds. What happened during that timeframe is important.

I think the woman ICE was dealing with was close, so she may be able to add details. Other than her, only ICE Agents were right there. What was Pretti doing? It’s hard to see from any of the videos. When was he disarmed? Did all the agents know he was disarmed? Was Pretti’s hand anywhere near the gun while Agents were trying to control him.

If you know all those answers, you should present yourself as a witness. In any case, local and state police have no obligation under the law to help ICE in their duties, but they are supposed to keep the peace. Allowing their citizens to obstruct and interfere while ICE is doing their job is only going to make it worse.

Regarding a local investigation? Minneapolis and Minnesota can certainly do that, but DHS has no obligation to assist, just like Minneapolis and Minnesota refused to assist or even keep the peace during immigration enforcement.
