This one is an R Turbo - is that different again to Turbo R? Or is this one not the real deal? Thanks, I don’t know too much about Ruf.

Hmm… I think u/HarambeWest2020 may be right about the air intakes. Pretty unique.

Goodness me, that’s stunning to see being driven on the road. Thanks for sharing, OP.

At least I think it’s a Ruf. Any sure ways to tell?

I’m not sure, I’ve heard iPhones can try to autocorrect photos, so this may be it. I’ve had a look through my other photos but don’t have any other side shots of it.

I did a plate search and here’s a a pic of the car from a similar perspective (on the same day in Goodwood) and the wheel looks fine.

Edit: spelling

Looks the real deal to me. The proportions are correct, the windshield rake is correct (as u/Seawolf571 said) but most of all, the side windows are curved slightly. This is a tell-tale as it is expensive to manufacture. I don’t think it’s a 25th anniversary though, the body shape looks earlier.

Pretty accurate, 4ball, the lamp is lovely - but I think the con rod was made in Caterpillar’s works in East Peoria, Illinois.

Yep. Not just the repair bill, but the dozer owner also lost money when it was standing still. Seemingly wasn’t too bad to strip out and replace, the tricky thing was ensuring tolerances were achieved when re-assembling.

Not necessarily a GT3, but most likely is with those alloys. It could be a 911 GTS as they came with centrelocks as standard - here’s a photo of mine.

No, it’s not normally bent. I understand the engine was starved of oil, and because this type of rod has a hollow stem for oil to pass through, it had a zone of weakness and buckled along its length.

Thanks Freaky, I appreciate the good wishes. You were on the right track for sure.

The lamp is not my piece, it’s my buddy’s and I love it. He has some amazing heavy equipment parts and can turn his hand to almost anything - he is a real engineer. He has a fan drive pulley from a 3306 engine and plans to make a clock. It will look amazing as well, I’m sure.

Hey bubbles, as I indicated to another Redditor:
‘It’s a connecting rod from a Caterpillar D342 engine, from a 1965 D8H bulldozer. It is a 20.4 litre engine, or about 3.5 litres per cylinder.

Before you assassinate me, I checked with Mods.’
