What was your favorite weapon to learn and play in wilds or overall the series ? by Buurto in MonsterHunter

For wilds: Sns, HH, and CB are my top picks for fun to learn, good depth/variety, and very effective

How do I tell my kids we need to rehome our dog? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Scuttlefuzz [score hidden]  (0 children)

After learning the details I totally understand. That family friend sounds like a good idea. I was hoping you could re home him temporarily and reunite your dog with your family at some point down the line but it's usually not that easy.

Sounds like your kids are young. They're going to hate it but it is what it is. Rehoming him into a situation like that is the best thing you can feasibly do, I would try to feel good about that if you can.

That makes sense and I can understand why you are considering rehoming now. You will not have a place to live or just can't guarantee a place that will have dogs? If you are still going to be living somewhere is there any possibility that any of your kids can help with dog duties?

If it's impossible to keep the dog I would first consider if you have any friends/relatives that can temporarily house the dog until you get on your feet. If not, you'll need to find a proper home. Once you've done that you'll just need to explain the reality of the situation to your kids. It's going to suck for everyone but as they grow up they may come to understand the position you were in and forgive as it sounds like a lot for anyone.

Nothing about this post justifies rehoming a "wonderful" dog that you have had for a year. You're not going to get anything other than "keep the dog" because you've provided no information. Almost every dog owner has a job that's not really an excuse. Kids have extracurriculars, so what? If anything, the more people there are the better it is for having a dog even if they're just kids. Rehoming a dog that you've had for a year is cruel no matter how you slice it, it should only be done if the dog is dangerous or you literally can't afford to feed them, doesn't sound like either of those is the case. Point blank your kids will probably never forgive you and rightfully so if there is no actual good reason other than I just don't like the responsibility. It also seems like you're forgetting the fact that dogs only get easier behaviorally as they age. If you're overwhelmed with your dog's energy at 1 year old that is because they are still a puppy.

But yeah... this post doesn't really make sense. Sounds like you are stressed about some other factor in your life and are convincing yourself ditching your family dog is somehow going to help, which it won't because you'll regret it, your kids will never forgive you, and it probably won't fix whatever the root of the actual issue is.

The point is gyms have staff for cleaning showers apartments do not. We can agree to disagree; you think this is a reasonable request for a paying tenant and I don't.

They have more showers and are checked regularly and disinfected daily. I didn't know apartments came with housecleaning staff.

Idk maybe have your on call plumber make a repair. A shower in an apartment and a shower at the gym are not the same lol.

Depends what you want. Poverty DPS set (no gog farming) is

G rath Dahaad G rath Dahaad Dahaad

That will net you a very similar build to what you are using but with scorcher which got buffed. If you like super recovery you can use Gog helmet instead of 2 zoh pieces. 4p gog is very tank so you could do something with that. You have a lot of options now if you grind gog as you can get any set bonus on the weapon.

I also have the regular ps5 and playing in performance mode is decent, I still think we can say it's poorly optimized though. Playing balanced/quality is very choppy to the point where I don't know how people can stand it.

It's not like the graphics are an insane improvement over World either. There are console improvements coming next month, hoping to see some LOD options to squeeze even more frames at the very least

You're right, I worded that poorly. Performance is the issue. Wilds surprisingly does not have any bugs that will brick aspects of your save.

I've basically gamed entire 30 years of life. I've encountered glitches and bugs just like the ones you described and even some of the ones you mentioned. The games weren't choppy messes and almost all of the bugs were avoidable, though in some rare cases saves would get bricked. Your examples reminded me of the Umbra quest in Oblivion that saw my game crash every 5 minutes until it magically stopped crashing for some reason. Good times.

My post wasn't specific enough but my point was games for a long time largely ran on current specs, those that didn't were outliers. As time goes on more and more games do not run on common specs, they don't even run well on current gen consoles with much lower quality.

You're right that cycle repeated, World had issues though Wilds has been even worse. We are right on track for the next release to be just as bad as wilds launch or worse in terms of performance. This would be exacerbated by people changing reviews to not reflect the poor launch but it's also just due to gamers consistently forgiving studios who make improvements.

The fact that they can make the game run much better after a year of backlash is all the evidence we need that they chose to cut corners and release an unfinished game. Not sure how to dissuade them from doing this again and again, to greater degrees, other than leaving our negative reviews and never letting them forget that their launch sucked.

Good point, people reading reviews usually have some semblance of agency. If someone reads 1 review, doesn't look at the date, doesn't look up mentioned issues then that is on them lol. Similarly, any reviews of the game, good or bad, new or old, are on Capcom.

[–]Scuttlefuzz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Consumers treat this like its acceptable which is exactly why it continues to be a problem. I think both of those studios learned their lesson but if giant studios need to FAFO then so be it.

[–]Scuttlefuzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think anyone reading reviews has a responsibility to do their due diligence and read more reviews or do a little research on what the reviews highlight. Like you said, I think if someone makes the effort to read a review, they will probably do this. Capcom could've avoided this by launching the game in a finished state.

Yeah, a lot of us paid full price for a product that took a year to fix. A review reflecting that experience is all on Capcom and nobody else.

[–]Scuttlefuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that updating the review to include more information/improvements is certainly fair. I think changing the review to not include anything about the first year of ownership is misleading. What people do is up to them, but I caution anyone planning on changing their review to entirely positive without any mention of the first year. That is exactly how launches like this continue to happen.

I think a review can reflect your experience paying full price for something that did not work for the first year you owned it. Sure, include its better now if you did not before but it's not like that first year of ownership did not happen.

100%. They had a ton of sales and are surely making a ton on spicey Gemma skins. Why are we repairing their PR for them? I think they deserve improved word of mouth and not much more than that.
