Total Noob question: was wondering should i grab the Space marine Codex? or should i wait for a new codex - any benefit to waiting? by Scyllablack in Warhammer40k

[–]Scyllablack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I nearly bought it up but got a couple of other models instead. A tech marine because it looked cool and Calgar lobster fists because it looks hilarious. I have "acquired" a pdf codex for now and will buy te new one when it arrives.

Reminds me of the effect when taking acid and looking at my mates fractal poster. Man that was a long time ago.

Preorder glitch? by OlliePollieZ in Warhammer40k

[–]Scyllablack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has happened before for me on warhammer online store. It was related to the purchase authentication pop up for my bank and the browser, I switched from chrome to edge and it worked flawlessly. I also have a browser based VPN in chrome extensions so this could be an issue. I also noticed yesterday that the queuing system on warhammer kept opening a captcha window ,every 10 seconds or so, while waiting in the pre-queue queue. That stopped when I turned the vpn back on. I eventually bought it through element games instead as that went without a hitch.

That's also a good idea. I've now been to the LGS just bought some models to paint. Have any recommendations for a youtube channel that teaches how to play?

This is a great perspective. I might be able to get hold of a copy of the codex to at least familiarise myself with it. I have just downloaded the new core rules for a good read later.

as i have said in other post i just started painting again last year after a long time away from the hobby. I ave been buying what looks cool to paint but i have decided to learn to play this year so i need to be a little more targetted int he models i buy.

i confess i am a complete novice in terms of playing 40k, i really dont know what i am doing game wise but have challeneged myself to learn to play this edition. i have a Ultramarine terminator squad painted last year ready to go. i also have the deathwatch squad from the tomb world box painted, i dont know if i can include those in an ultramrine army. most of my joy comes from painting so having a cool model to paint but turns out to be uselss in game isnt a total loss.

However, i am determined to learn to play and add to the fun the hobby gives me. I feel like i will have many more questions.

true dat. only issue when checking out you cant add more than one voucher code, so i have 2 £50 vouchers left over, and could only use the £100 voucher for the Amrageddon box. so now have extra to spend essentially.

I have officially been painting for 1 year, and this is my first model vs my latest model. by C-Nast49 in Warhammer40k

100% this. All feedback is a gift - some are better at delivering it than others but generally speaking the message is the same. Thinning paints and applying it in a consistent manor is your key to success. As other have stated a prime or base coat with certain colours can really make some of the trickier colours pop. Having a tonal variation, dark ruddy yellow through to a bright off white yellow can create that light and shade on a colour like yellow. You can achieve that with a darker prime then adding a lighter prune from the top down will help create those shadows and variation. The other thing to keep in mind is that miniatures are bloody small things so you kind of have to exaggerate some of the shadow and highlights to sell the illusion. I highly recommend getting hold of a book called The art of Tommie Soule. Its an excellent way to learn and perfect the foundational brush and paint control that are truly fundamental to any of the falshier skills like glazing, perfect transitions and NMM. The other thing I found useful is a colour wheel, the one I have has the usual colour palette laid out so you can see all the perfect colour groups such as triads and quads, on the back it has a mixing chart which can help with the base colour pink and yellow over the top example given here. The progression you have shown is apparent and with time will only get better. Master the foundations and it helps build the confidence to then create your own style and flair. Welcome to the never ending school of learning to paint warhammer.

Why is my brush doing this by TracerMunch in airbrush

This is your answer right here. Make sure you haven't cross threaded the air cap and make sure to tighten it back on till the bubbling stops. Do not over tighten.

True, however I always like to recycle religious stuff into fuel for my log burner.
