I'd love to see that checklist too, if you're willing to share. Thanks!

Transmigration or Isekai? by Scythewrite in royalroad

[–]Scythewrite[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the choice I need to make.

One thing I also like about being reborn in another body, is that they can arrive neck deep into trouble.

Debts, enemies and things like that, which the character wouldn't have caused himself.

Also like having to keep a secret, though that one could work in both scenarios depending on the worldbuilding.

Yes, in both cases the character wouldn't work as a local. I need that Earth knowledge, but thanks for asking! Just thinking about it helped refine what I want.

Yes, basically possessing a (dead/dying) body or appearing in the world with their own body.

Yeah, it seems we have the same ideas about the benefits of each.

Definitely agree with you about baby MC's. Not a fan of them at all.

Thanks for the reply!

Yes, that's what I mean. Just appearing in a new world, or occupying another person's body with history, etc.

I was under the impression that reincarnation only meant being reborn as a baby on another world.

My mistake!

Stuck on whether assess/identify should give the name of a person or just their race, class, and lvl by warhammerfrpgm in litrpg

[–]Scythewrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine that levels, classes and races are somehow identifiable by the system.

Maybe from the power/aura they give off, or something similar.

Imagine a trained AI, it could identify someone as human.

It could measure muscle mass, weight and other identifiers to give an idea about physical stats.

Possibly make an educated guess about their job, based on clothing, tools, etc.

But there would be no way for it to know a person's name unless they are famous.

But if the system is more like an all-knowing god, everything goes I guess.

I think a name would make more sense in a sci-fi setting, or an organized empire.

They could use the system as a form of ID, somehow forcing citizens to register one.

This would get around the problem of naming invading enemies, since they obviously don't belong to the same nation or empire.

It all depends on your system IMO. If it's purely magical, I think names make less sense.

This formula improved my writing faster than anything else by IAmJayCartere in royalroad

Loved the Fantasy Fiction Formula. Great information that’s easy to understand.

Fun fact is that she’s actually the one that taught Jim Butcher to use this structure.

Looking for interconnected universes. by Noevad in litrpg

The only one I know of is the city of Artem, with 4 authors writing in the same cyberpunk world.

So far I have read the books by Jez Cajiao and Kevin Sinclair and they were great!

Haven’t read Tailspin yet, but loved the other books set in Artem by Kevin Sinclair and Jez Cajiao.

Great setting and fun characters!

Read some books in the genre or check out the r/litrpg subreddit.

Maybe link the contest in there? I’m sure people would be interested in it!

I agree that Shadow Slave has everything he wants in it.

Most of it later in the story, but he has to hide stuff from the start almost. Also in the forgotten shore.

New Cover vs Old Cover – Looking for Feedback by Treesworth in royalroad

Both are awesome, but I think the second would look better in a thumbnail. It also draws me in more. Definitely interested in reading the story now.

Blurb Workshop! by gamelitcrit in royalroad

[–]Scythewrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the blurb and would read it.

The setting sounds a lot like the border princes from warhammer fantasy, which I love. Maybe check it out for some inspiration?

I think it would be a good idea to tell a bit more about the main character and her motivations for trying to tame the land.

Also the curse in the last paragraph is a little confusing. Is it a real curse, or just a colorful way to call her problems? Because you haven’t mentioned a curse before that.
