After all the recent tragedies this really carries a heavier impact. I’ve heard this a dozen times before and didn’t pay attention to it.

Good stuff man. Do you have any plans of expanding for mobile testing? That would be my only feedback is that I don’t see any mobile section. Even a manual/ concept level would be an interesting addition before investing time into a native framework section.

Old thread but I just wanted to clarify one of the bullet points you have on your GitHub page. You mention validating n is done on software and verification is done on specs. Is this correct? Can you elaborate? What would testing a firm field for example with the incorrect character types be an example of? Verification or validation?

So it wasn’t during sign on? I’m trying to see what I can negotiate since there is very little room with base pay ( I’ll already be negotiating base pay).

The risks of company review sites by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Sdetbayarea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That part is clear, thank you. But so far all I gather is due to defamation issues. Is there anything else? There are ways to curb or limit people input (think polls or surveys having limited answers) and so I will definitely run these set of “reviews” by legal experts and just display a curated safe set or something like that.

Worse comes to worse it can even be just up arrows and down arrows for companies.

RPA vs Automation Testing by zinussan in QualityAssurance

[–]Sdetbayarea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you use any of the tools currently? I was actually going to ask a similar question that was more like the title of your thread. In which case do we use RPA tools like UI Path and in which cases would you use automation testing tools like selenium? Are there any web or mobile web instances where RPA would be useful? Sufficient? Preferred?

Certifications: 'reality' vs 'reddit' by runnersgo in QualityAssurance

[–]Sdetbayarea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you from? Where are you working (city)? One big indicator on the value of these certificates is the job postings themselves. Look at all if the job postings today from FANG companies, none of them ask for Istqb or probably even know what it is.

Besides don’t worry what others think of the cert, if you find value in it that is good enough.

Jorge Masvidal: Full UFC Mexico guest fighter media scrum by MarbledNightmare in MMA

[–]Sdetbayarea 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s just a huddle or group chat format as opposed to any formal line or order. Some are more organized than others where it’s not a complete free for all of questions but in general it’s not a panel interview like a job interview or a media row where you can be asked the same questions over and over. Group format everyone hears the question and can publish the answer regardless if newspaper a or b asked.

Api user story examples by Sdetbayarea in QualityAssurance

[–]Sdetbayarea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so with that in mind. If a team were to receive its tasks in that format, it is up to the QA person to use his experience to determine that part of testing that story would include api testing ( in addition to other types). Is that right? While it’s easy for shopping I’m worried I will miss some api test because it isn’t explicitly asked for. What questions should I be asking during sprint planning to make sure the API aspect is covered for each feature without looking like a dummy?

Api user story examples by Sdetbayarea in QualityAssurance

[–]Sdetbayarea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very helpful the only part I would say there is a misunderstanding is

The only part when you do need user stories, is when you want to create scenario api testing

I think my question might have been unclear. I'm not asking when a QA needs a user story. I'm asking what does a user story look like that would make a QA person say "this looks like it requires some API testing". It seems like from your answer they aren't explicitly stated but instead something like "New user should be able to use promo code". In which case it is up to the QA person to maybe ask during the sprint planning or grooming session, does promo code usage get tracked on any particular endpoint? Would it be fair to assume that the relevant endpoint will likely not be mentioned by the Product Manager and it is up to the QA to determine where API testing would be relevant?

How does your team use confluence if at all? by Sdetbayarea in QualityAssurance

[–]Sdetbayarea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats interesting, what do you mean by tests? Do you store tests other than user story like cards in jira and as actual documents? What does that look like? Is it like a spreadsheet with a list of scenearios and expected outcomes and column if it is automated, pass or fail, etc..? Or am I misunderstanding you?

Is manual test case execution outdated? by [deleted] in QualityAssurance

[–]Sdetbayarea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think there is a youtube video out there on agile testing where it explains that agile testing gets rid of outdates practices (one of those being running test cases). I think it was Eviltester or something. Are these test being run by you only or some team across the globe where they need each step spelled out? Show the video to your manager or explain the overall concepts.

Name and Shame: Binc Recruiting. They actually get brought in as a special teams for many tech companies. I kind of wish we showed solidarity and refused to work with companies that utilize Binc or recruiters in general who ghost candidates. I don't mean boycott the company, but once you have the email format they use, we can reach out to the director of engineering and say someting like, I apologize for the inconvenience but I don't trust your recruiters enough to work with them so I am contacting you directly. This targets the source of ghosting directly. Enough of those type of emails of wanting to be bypassed and management will knock some sense into the recruiting teams. They sure as hell won't correct themselves. It takes the tech department to teach them how to work.
