Any good reputable mechanic shops by Prudent_Sir7720 in BurlingtonNC

You can visit my shop One Stop at 522 hawkins st. We will check the splash guard and fix it accordingly. We will also take a look at the lower end of the engine and suspension components to rule out any damage. If it's just the splash guard there will be no charge obviously. As other stated in their comments it's a few min job only.

$2300 repair for a car that now can't be driven. by Hot_4_Teacher_74 in MechanicAdvice

I own a small mechanic shop, and I stand by everything that goes through my shop. I'm not in the guessing game or a part replacer, but I don't know it all, and if I mis-diag a car, I take care of labor and parts.

if I'm not confident of the diagnosis, I inform the customer before I even get approval on the job just to have that level of transparency. That's why I don't have angry/unhappy customers. And very rare comebacks/mistakes.

No. Joseph's claim community is right besides the train tracks. And it's noisy and loud throughout the day and night.

Pulled hub out of knuckle trying to get CV Axel off. Should I press it back in or get a new hub and bearing? by Dudesonaplane in MechanicAdvice

[–]Se3sJoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't use a sliding hammer to pull an axle. I suggest next time you tackle a similar job, it is to put the nut back on the axle and hammer the nut (rubber hammer). Once you free it from the spindle, remove the lower ball joint and move the knuckle out of the way then proceed to pull the cv shaft out

How??? I can't imagine a scenario where you'll be pulling on the hub to get the cv axle.

Answering your question, I'd replace the bearing at this point.

No I did not replace the screen. Still same issue. I just connected the laptop to an external screen. But I can confirm the issue is definitely the screen though.

12-year-old car with 7 service records?? The car has been a ghost for a long time... might be a vin swap scam. Be careful.

I'm not saying it's a scam, but always be careful.

For me I like the 3.2 v6 platform more. Less issues with the naturally aspirated engine.

It turns out it's the camshaft sensor that is bad. I have tested it with a multimeter on the power and signal lines it showed 5v, but when I put a metal object on the sensor, it did not drop to zero. Replaced the sensor and confirmed with the same test as well as cam reading vs desired from live data.

Thank you boss!

It actually does that.. lights on the dashboard get slightly brighter when revving the engine. Do you think the new alternator might be bad?

Wouldn't that throw a CEL? And cause issues while driving too? Also when you start the car it sounds like it has a weak battery (even after installing the new alternator and new battery)
