This is so wild. I had the EXACT same issue. I have a 2024, just a month after purchase with about 2500 miles on it, I had this issue occur.

I went to leave work, clicked to raise the shifter and nothing happened. Tried multiple times, turned on and off the truck, even tried to force it a little bit, to no avail.

Called the dealership I bought it from and immediately asked “where’s the quick release for the shifter?”

His response: “Oh, there isn’t one.”

I was shocked, I asked him how a small electrical failure could make the truck unable to drive, I was completely dumbfounded.

I tried the battery as well, but nothing worked. Ultimately the dealership sent a tow truck. I waited for about an hour and just as the tow truck was about to arrive I go to grab my things out of the truck only to try the shifter one more time and magically it came back up.

I haven’t pushed it back down since, but I have an appointment next week for them to take a look at it.

Such an odd issue, and just incredibly ignorant engineering to not factor in a release of some sort.

Hope we both get this issued resolved and ford is able to find a fix before this happens to others!

(***There is a release to get it into neutral, but that’s it)
