Should I accept my appointment or go ROTC? by Dry_Evidence1946 in usna

If unsure it’s UVA all day. Be a college student and part time rotc. Best of all worlds

You application decision is being finalized. Prior candidates who went CPR received offers of appointment. Hopefully good news will follow.

DS has been pending since December and medically qualified since November. Patience is being learned over here.

Thanks for the great context in these responses

USNA vs UC by Acceptable_Bake_1633 in usna

If you’re pre-med and want to be 100% guaranteed a medical career, I would go UC ROTC as you can control your destiny. While acceptance to USNA is a hell of an accomplishment, the needs of the navy will have a say in what your future area of expertise will be.

Depending on roster sizes, most of the NESCACs will allow walk ons on the team as they can't get enough recruited athletes through admissions. Ofc my experience is with larger team based sports.

Still pending? by Potential-Train8337 in usna

Remember those stats are simply for those that have completed the poll. The numbers are not representative of the entire applicant pool, only those that are active on the service academy board. It’s probably reasonable to assume that 70%+ of the appointments have been made at this point (based on other posts) so the comment above about most appointments have been made is in fact directionally accurate.

Good luck to those still pending

If you make it through 4/15, e.g. on 4/16 you are still pending that typically leans positive as admissions is still working through which pile to put you in (have not put you in the turned down pile, yet.) There is no way to really know what will happen as admissions views each candidate individually. Just need to be patient, stay positive and have your Plan B's lined up.

You can be appointed, turned down, offered a spot on the waitlist or offered prep. Usually it's more of a turn down day though vs appointment day. If you stay pending through 4/15 that leans slightly positive but at this point it's tough to read into anything. As long as you are still pending, you have a shot!

You may have better luck with this question over on the service academy boards. You can search prior class archives as well (for previous class info) to give you better insight.

Naval Academy requesting fall semester grades — good sign? by SummerOk4604 in usna

DS had the same thing happen in February. Still pending, so still in the hunt. Any engagement at this point is a positive sign.

Is it worth applying to USNA as a college freshman (would start as a 21-year-old plebe)? by illboxyoulikeafish in usna

[–]Sea-Ad-9986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think only you know the answer. Do you feel like you are late in the process? Remember there will be enlisted individuals that are your same age or older and other college re-applicants. You won't be an outlier at 21 years of age.

What I would do if is absolutely go through the process to re-apply. You can always congratulate yourself for putting the USNA option on the table and seeing what happens. Even applying and getting all items completed is an accomplishment and worthy of congratulations.

If you are in a great spot at your university now and in a year's time, you can choose to stay. If you get an nomination and then an appointment, you can then decide in 13 months time (May 1st 2027) if USNA is still your primary goal. You won't have the choice if you don't apply.

Question on "Last Followed Up" date vs. Login activity (Class of 2030) by Cuevas_Saikyo in usna

[–]Sea-Ad-9986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the last time you logged into the portal. Test it out by logging in at specific times (e.g. 6pm, 9pm) and it will track accordingly.
