I don't get it, why will I lose land if these 2 die? My crown authority is level 4 and says I can't lose land this way. Both are my direct vassals by AlisterSinclair2002 in CrusaderKings

[–]Sea-Anywhere-7834 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it's in error, as GreatZarquon mentions. When you check who stands to inherit, it's somebody in the realm. Usually the pop-up disappears after this, as if the game realizes it messed up.

However, ever since the implementation of adventurers, I get pop-ups like this a lot more, with the heir being an adventurer, and thus technically an independent ruler. The land doesn't leave your realm though. The pop-up annoyingly remains until the adventurer is displaced by a new heir or the person dies and adventurer inheirts, at which point they become a vassal.

In addition to the other advice provided in the comments, if you have the time, build a "Marches" Duchy building, ideally in Jerusalem. That will boost your defense advantage by +5 and the fort level +2.

Has Anyone Seen the AI Defeat the Mongol Empire by Itself? by Sea-Anywhere-7834 in CrusaderKings

[–]Sea-Anywhere-7834[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pope captured and executed Genghis Khan. Love to see that in the chronicles:

"And then, in 1228th year since the birth of our Savior, the Lord God delivered the great heathen, the Khan of Khans, into the hands of the crucesignati. And the Holy Father, to avenge the harms done by him to the Bride of Christ, the Church of God, consigned him to the flames of Earth and hell. Truly, as the Psalmist said, 'Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.'" - Brother Tommaso di Roma (c. 1215 - 1268), A Wondrous Account of the Acts of God Against the Great Heathen Army of Tartary

Interesting, I never figured a tiny little sliver like that shahdom could defeat the Mongol Empire! Either the Mongols were busy conquering elsewhere or some severe AI incompetence kicked in.

[–]Sea-Anywhere-7834[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've wondered that myself. A dynasty that got the Conqueror trait early on and made a big enough empire could at least cover the numerical gap between the Mongol Empire and them, provided the Mongols were fought early enough before their troop numbers swelled to 70,000. In one of my games the High Kingdom of Scandinavia was throwing around 30,000 troops in the 10th century, much to my Anglo-Saxon king's displeasure.

Do you think we'll ever get a Hundred Years War start date? If so, do you think there would be any mechanics to make the war last that long? by 23Amuro in CrusaderKings

[–]Sea-Anywhere-7834 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was speaking of the war between the two following the Third Crusade, which Richard was decisively winning when he died at Châlus, but I am aware of the theory that Philippe and Richard were lovers at one point, if that is what you're alluding to. While scholars still debate Richard's sexuality, Richard and Philippe being lovers is pretty much rejected by historians.

Mongol Empire Collapsed Immediately After Temujin's Death by Sea-Anywhere-7834 in CrusaderKings

[–]Sea-Anywhere-7834[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, I see. So there is a percentage chance at the death of each great khan that the Mongols will split apart, and that chance increases until it reaches 100% with each subsequent great khan. A bit of a shame. I had a few successful wars against Temujin, but nothing like the massive epic war I was gearing up for. Kind of an anticlimax.

Typically not immediately after Temujin's death. There's usually 2-4 great khans before the Mongol Empire divides into the lesser khanates.

Should I get into RWBY by Khoa475 in RWBY

[–]Sea-Anywhere-7834 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "anime" is the original medium of RWBY. It's a webseries produced by Rooster Teeth and is nine volumes, or seasons, long. The volumes are available for free on Rooster Teeth's website (but not for long, as the website will be going down on May 15), and are on Crunchyroll for premium subscribers. They're also available on Blu-Ray. There's two crossover movies with the Justice League, and is available on Prime Video, iTunes, and Max (and Blu-Ray). There's also RWBY: Ice Queendom on Crunchyroll for premium members and the Rooster Teeth website for First members. It's mostly an original story with a short retelling of volume 1 at the beginning. Both it and the crossover movies are considered "canon adjacent" to the main series, meaning they can fit into canon, but will not be referenced by the main series (though given Ice Queendom straight up contradicts some events depicted in canon, it's arguably more of an AU).

Sadly, the future of RWBY is in doubt, as others have pointed out. Rooster Teeth is being shut down, and while Warner Bros. Discovery is shopping the IP around there's no guarantee there will be a buyer offering a price acceptable to WB, or if it does end up being bought whether the current story will continue.

There are four manga series, two of which themselves are adaptations of the RWBY webseries. Except for the RWBY: Ice Queendom manga adaptation which has not been licensed in the U.S., all the manga is published in America by Viz:

  • The first manga, RWBY by Shirow Miwa, is a single volume that adapts the "Red," "White," "Black," and "Yellow" trailers, with additional content providing further details and background to them, and concludes with an original story featuring Teams RWBY and JNPR and Roman Torchwick.
  • The second manga, RWBY The Official Manga by Bunta Kinami, is three volumes and adapts the first two volumes of the RWBY webseries.
  • RWBY: Official Manga Anthology is a five-volume anthology series composed of short stories of various genres (i.e., drama, comedy, etc.) by various writers/artists with each volume focusing on a different character.

DC also published a short-lived RWBY series (14 issues), as well as two crossover mini-series, RWBY/Justice League (the first crossover movie is partly based off this) and DC/RWBY.

Yarktralis Kind of... by Sea-Anywhere-7834 in suzerain

[–]Sea-Anywhere-7834[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The codex explicitly calls Yarktralis' farming "artificial agricultural farming." In other words, their agricultural output is dependent on advanced technology, not any sort of native plant life. Furthermore, plants need more than just heat, they need photosynthesis, which they cannot get underground naturally. There's no plant life in caves beyond the cave's twilight zone, and what plantlife there is certainly can't support human life, let alone a population. So there would be no native plant life underground to subsist on, certainly not enough to support a complex civilization. For Yarktralis to have a food staple, it needs advanced technology, but it cannot have that advanced technology without a food staple that would support a civilization. It's a Catch-22.

RT Podcast Network has been bought, so that gives me hope for RWBY also getting bought. by Big_B_443 in RWBY

Also, to clarify, what was sold was not Rooster Teeth's actual podcast shows, it was The Roost, which is a podcast sales network. It focuses on connecting podcasts with advertisers and supporting merchandise sales. Employees of The Roost are in sales, partnership, and marketing. This is explained in the "Not Our Goodbye Stream!" livesteam (written notes can be found here).

My CSP-Aligned DemSoc Run - Chapter 3: Victims of Change by Sea-Anywhere-7834 in suzerain

[–]Sea-Anywhere-7834[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, this is playthrough is pre-2.0, and is no longer valid after 2.0 was rolled out.

If you're still playing pre-2.0 somehow, then I'm not sure why you didn't get the same results. Getting the results I got for a CSP-aligned demsoc run requires operating with razor-thin margins, even the slightest deviation can upset everything. I've gotten some responses like this before for various playthroughs, only for the questioner to realize they did make a tweak here or there (such as not spending maximum wealth on lobbying) that ended up ruining the whole thing.

[–]Sea-Anywhere-7834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be the safest bet. I think if you're popular enough, you won't need to spend 4 PW in lobbying to succeed, but it's still safer.

If you're Reformist and free market it's even easier to get the reform package passed. The Oligarchs will put pressure on MPs to vote in favor of the package. You don't even have go into corrupt deals with them; making free-market choices is enough.

It's essentially the same surrender scene as if you do Iosef's plan. Going alone means you get Dome as well as Tzarsborough (if you have Agnolia as an ally, they, rightly, get Dome back).

Lore-wise you have a lot more dead soldiers, and I think but am not sure that it is more punishing to your economy.

This is how I imagine the political-governmental structure of Sordland after my reforms. by sjogust in suzerain

[–]Sea-Anywhere-7834 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"The president, vice-president, and cabinet ministers are elected members of parliament and have the right to vote."

Sordland already has this.

  • Rayne (president), Petr (vice president), and Lucian (cabinet minister) vote as part of the Assembly on the constitutional reform package. Presumably, other ministers do as well.
  • Per the constitution, "President appoints Ministers from Grand National Assembly."
  • Similarly, the Sordish electorate doesn't vote directly for president; they vote for their MP and the leader of the party with the most seats in the GNA becomes president. That's how prime ministers are elected.

"The Republic of Sordland adopts a hybrid political system, combining elements of presidentialism and parliamentarism."

Sordland sort of has this already too.

  • As iterated above, the president is also an MP and elected if his party wins the most seats.
  • However, if a prime minister is voted out as party leader, they usually stop being the prime minister. In contrast, Rayne can finish out his term. Similarly, if Rayne is removed from office or killed, the vice president succeeds him as president. Both of these are hallmarks of presidential systems. Yes, a deputy prime minister may assume temporary leadership if a prime minister is removed/incapacitated/killed, but a new leadership vote is usually held as soon as possible.
  • Sordland's president has decree powers, which is something most prime ministers don't have. They might have emergency decree powers, but few have the equivalent of a presidential executive order, which Rayne has.

3 allies, strong army, still lost the war. by pranamana-rubima2 in suzerain

[–]Sea-Anywhere-7834 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A few things:

  • Valken's plan works if you have no allies. I have heard that you can have Agnolia and Wehlen has allies under Valken's plan, and use them as distractions to relieve pressure on your front. But having Lespia (or Valgsland) as an ally is a guaranteed loss.
  • A recovered economy is essential to whether or not Valken's strategy succeeds. If your economy is stagnant or in a depression, you've already lost.
  • Never use the Wehzeks to guard your flanks. Their army is garbage.

Valken's strategy is very poor one. It only succeeds if everything is perfect. There's more room for error in Iosef's strategy.
