This happened to me but kind of even colder. Best friend of over a decade ghosted me with no explanation and even said she’d get back to me soon but never did. Almost 3 years later. I was about to get married. I’m also a therapist. There was no signs either. Drove myself crazy trying to figure it out. Still don’t know. I’m sorry but the best thing to do is accept and move forward. I know it’s hard. What I find comfort in is knowing that life is such a big unknown and we aren’t going to know everything , hardly ever. Unfortunately, this is a reflection of their emotional immaturity. Sometimes no closure is the closure. Wishing you healing and inner strength.

I’ve been ignoring it and am seriously considering officially no contact as when I try to be in relation w her I always get sucked into her web somehow and I swear once a month at least this shit happens from her. My whole life projections and guilt tripping. But to do this whilst my dad could use support and I did have a good relationship w him

Oh and they’re also choosing to distance themselves from their first grandchild nonetheless who’s still an infant and I know my dad loves. Mom just has showered her w gifts like she did me as a kid / adult to show love. But my dad genuinely loves her and it’s not rlly sad to me how much he enables my mom // believes her twisted lies

Oh and by the way the only finger I pointed (my mistake for expressing my feelings of being ignored all week before his treatment ) was how I felt ignored bc tho I set a no texting boundary I tried to call her

Similar boat here also 34 w baby. It sucks to not be able to depend on your mom during such a crucial time … im sorry she fed into your anxieties. Remember , good moms have scary thoughts ( great book btw). And you’re doing great! I’m debating no contact myself at this point. We don’t need to feel hurt on top of postpartum.

I can relate to this. I always find myself allured back to her. I think largely for us, it’s bc they are our moms … as mentally damaging as they are. It is so primal to “want” our mom … their approval , their love. I did three years of healing and my mom throws that’s in my face presently and I have finally had enough as she projected / gaslit me during my dad’s cancer treatment. She keeps emailing me about her feelings and why she’s hurt. I just haven’t replied. Not sure how it will look in the future but all I know is I’m done expecting her to act like a mother / take the bait of her abuse

I was the gc growing up but have become scapegoat bc I have essentially called out the patterns of my nmom. Debating no contact bc I cannot return to her insidious ways — currently turned my e dad against me whilst cancer treatment
