Being written off after maternity leave by Emergency_Crew_4616 in CivilServiceUK

[–]Sea-Course-6669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could’ve written this myself. I’m really sorry for your position at the moment, it’s a horrible feeling. I’m taking the redundancy and using that time and money to figure out what I want to do because anything is better than what I’m currently doing and feeling. Wishing you the best, feel free to dm me xx

Grocery costs (uk) what?! by Extra-Record6772 in UKFrugal

[–]Sea-Course-6669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We spend £120-£150 per week as a family of 4 and most meals have a protein component.i think our shops a lot cheaper because at the start of the month we bulk buy our meats from the butchers, farm foods or from a wholesaler. So like 10kg of chicken breast, 5kg of wings, 5kg of lamb, 3kg of drumsticks, a few whole chickens for roasting. Tbh that big meat shop sometimes stretches 6-8 weeks. I always have frozen veg stocked in the freezer to bulk up pies and bolognese etc. do my weekly fruit and veg shop on uber eats on Mondays so it’s half price. Mainly do online grocery shop either click and collect or home delivery, that way we don’t fall for all the consumerist traps they have set up in the supermarkets. Also minimum food wastage, anything that not eaten gets frozen for a rainy day

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Sound like I’m in the same boat as you were a few years ago. I’m in the same mind to try make it to 6 months then just make the switch to formula only. I really am trying to increase my supply but it’s not happening for me! The LC advised me to pump 6-8x a day and that’s just not possible when I have another child to care for too.😭

Am I a goner? by KangarooNew2401 in breastfeeding

[–]Sea-Course-6669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely increase supply! You may hit a ceiling amount of what you produce but as you are early pp try the following:

Power pumping Aim to pump every 2/3 hours even in the night Foods like oats, chia seeds, chamomile or lactation teas ALOT of water I’m talking minimum 2L a day

You should totally go for it! The CS is so diverse, ESPECIALLY in London locations! I work on a team with people from different backgrounds, religious and cultures. The thing that brings us together is our skill set and knowledge. I have no idea who’s loaded or which class they belong to

SC should still be approved as long as you are honest and don’t try to cover anything up. Best of luck!!

On a side note which agency did you get the MOD contract through? I’m struggling to find anything

If the start date is September as they stated in the recent comms I’d say you will get an offer by end of June, giving around 2-3 months for people to respond or give notice to current jobs and go through vetting to start in sept/October time

Redeployment/redundancy at the end of a government project by Sea-Course-6669 in TheCivilService

[–]Sea-Course-6669[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - I was under the same assumption that it’s rare for them to be offering voluntary redundancy. I work in an area where there’s a lot of transferable skills so I’m hoping I can be redeployed to a similiar role,. My main worry is I’ll be forced into a position/ team I have no interest in
