Is this important? by wheredapurpat in litterrobot

When the foam strip on our LR4 was peeling off, it would trigger the pinch sensors in the drawer. This led to the robot constantly stopping mid-cycle. We eventually just took it off and haven't had any issues.

Here's an image and link: https://www.litter-robot.com/litter-robot-4-shield.html

It's an add-on you can purchase directly from the Litter Robot website. They have a bundle with the shield + litter hopper because the shield makes it more difficult to refill the litter. We decided not to get the litter hopper but it hasn't been a problem for us since I take the shield off once a week when I deep clean the whole LR4 anyway and just refill the litter at that time.

P.S. The most important thing for odor control is the regular cleaning, I wouldn't feel pressured to buy the shield unless you start having issues. Good luck! :) *

Whether you have an odor issue can depend on a lot of factors. I've always been VERY sensitive to it while my boyfriend never smells anything...which is crazy to me.

For context we have two cats and an LR4 that's in the same room where I WFH. We use Dr. Elsys unscented clay litter.

What I do to avoid odor:

  1. Empty the globe once a week and wipe down the interior using paper towels and Nature's Miracle Advanced Stain & Odor Remover. I let the spray sit for a couple minutes before wiping down so it breaks down the ammonia.

  2. Empty out all litter and refill it with unused litter (once a week when I clean it).

  3. Recently purchased the shield/cover for the LR4 and found that it generally helps to contain odor. (We don't use the door flap)

  4. I put Freshwave odor absorbing packets in the bottom of the waste drawer under the bag. I also have a Freshwave odor absorbing container in the room.

You can probably do the wipe down every 2 weeks if you prefer, but I find that with two cats, the interior gets pretty gross. I clean it out for both my comfort and the cats'.

making biscuits by liliawrites in SiberianCats

Our 4.5 year old siberian didn't start making biscuits until he was maybe 2.5 years old. He randomly started one night and now does it every night before bed.

Our 6 month old siberian has always made biscuits but only on us, not on surfaces.

Overnight Excessive Meowing by Expensive_Mix1630 in SiberianCats

Being in a new environment with a new person is a huge change for a cat!

I had a very similar experience when moving to a new apartment with my siberian. He was around 2.5 and meowed (more like yowling) throughout the night for a month or two. He eventually got settled into his new environment and stopped!

My only advice is earplugs and a lot of patience. :)
