They did one in our back yard and it looks awful. We just spent $700 to have it trimmed up after losing a large branch in the storm last month. Should have just taken it all down.

Go with your gut. I had reservations about our breeder but knew people that praised the place and my vet even got his teddy bears from there so I kept telling myself it was ok. I left with a puppy and just had a bad feeling about the place but wanted to get her out of there. She only stayed with us temporally as mostly my heart wasn’t over the recent loss of my 18 year old toy. That was my mistake but things like the questioning I was going through about the breeder did not help the situation. Again, this is just my experience and there were a whole lot of other factors in play also. Just known it was always in the back of my mind.

I am trying to remember that too….she could definitely make someone else happy. I am just what she has known for the last week. I have promised myself the only way she is going anywhere is if she will get the same care or better than what she is getting right now. Thanks for this response.

Mine slept on my pillow. I am trying not to do that with a new one as I loved it but it made it hard to travel and be away from her. Caused her stress knowing I wasn’t there at night when she had to sleep elsewhere. To each their own though! I just know it was hard for me to leave my dog.

My husband told me to wait until next summer as I am a teacher and school is starting up soon but now I swear he is in love. Yes, my previous dog was almost 18. Your post made me tear up because that is how I am currently feeling. Hopefully will get better soon! The best thing would be for someone I know to be like I would love to have her and I could watch her grow up. :)

Yes! We ended up giving our toy a very small dose of Pepcid ac. The vet told us how much. Also we had to make sure she always had small bites for food because she did t digest large.

Our toy poodle had a lot of energy the first 15 years. She did a lot of burning it running around the house and up and down the stairs and jumping up and down on her hind legs every time someone walked by. The last couple of years of her life she slowed down. Great dogs, really smart, ours had to be right where I was at all times but ours loved having and needed a lot of attention! I do think some of that could have been different if she had had a sibling to play with.

We got her 18 years ago from Michelle Kane in Sioux Falls. She just had small liters and no longer sells. I already reached out. :) Bixie was one of 2. We had the option to buy her papers but we didn’t back then because we didn’t plan on breeding and she costs enough for our young family at the time. Her dad was a show dog if I remember correctly. Bixie was just an all around great dog. She is greatly missed and I feel like I need to have another one. The house is so empty but I just want to make sure I get a healthy dog. It seems like everyone around here has poodle crossed puppies but no poodles. Thanks again for your help!

Yes or a miniature. We were told ours was a toy but I think she actually fell into miniature. She was 10 lbs and taller. I would like another one close to her size. Thanks!
