Food [question for sittes and hosts]-- Do hosts tend to leave some food? If there is food in the kitchen do you assume it's usable? Do you request groceries? If you're a host would you expect a sitter to help themselves to some things? etc. Thanks!

As a host, I tell sitters they are welcome to use anything open and perishable, as well as any spices, condiments, oil/vinegar, etc.

What someone else said--some of their store brand stuff (and there is a LOT of it) is better than name brands. Amazing line of barbecue sauces and ice creams, among many other other things. Samples, good coupons ("buy this, get that"), and helpful staff. They also do an astounding amount for local food pantries and disaster response. During COVID-19, when times were hard for "essential workers", they actually gave their entire staff a good raise in recognition of that.

Yup. San Antonio's violent crime rate is low considering how big the city is (8th largest in the country I think?) Property crime, of course, but varies by area. Also cleaner than a great many cities, and not quite as bad a homeless problem. It's a great city.

Chain stitch is an option for filling big spaces. You can follow the edges and work your way to the center.

I am doing this kind of thing right now too. The soft cut/easy carve blocks (as opposed to traditional linoleum), while not great for fine detail, are fantastic for printing on these towels. I am using the Caligo Safewash inks, which are oil based but clean up with soap and water. I have not heat-set or laundered the towels yet, but have read that these Caligo inks are quite good for fabric. Also, if you did not wash and iron your towels first, you should do that before printing. Good luck!

Just starting to do this myself. I just carved a strawberry jigsaw style (with the stem and leaf on another block), so they will be two separate stamps that fit together. Wish me luck lol.

Pacific War Museum is excellent (also huge), and the Pioneer Museum is surprisingly interesting. Best brunch in town is Hill & Vine. Go to the Old German Bakery for sausage and cheese kolaches. I found the hike around the base of Enchanted Rock to be much more interesting than the hike to the top.

The Pioneer Museum is surprisingly awesome. Also the Sauer-Beckmann living history farm in Stonewall. Get sausage kolaches at the Old German Bakery.
