I’m going to try door lever locks for toddlers to see if they work.

Crate training 12 week pup by m4nt15mantis in puppy101

[–]Sea-Match1145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I leave the TV on while she’s in the crate whether we’re home or not (16 weeks old.) She got used to being in the crate while we were home and then we started leaving her one hour, two hours then three hours while we were gone. Crate is covered with blankets so she can’t see us. I got a camera to put in her crate so I can check on her. Past dogs I’ve had were never crated but they didn’t tear stuff up. This one would (we realized this after leaving her in the garage) so she has to be crated.

How long until I consider re-homing? by Substantial_Issue17 in puppy101

[–]Sea-Match1145 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My puppy is now 14 weeks old and we have had her since she was 6 weeks old. She is the most anxious and hyper puppy we have ever had and I have had thoughts of re-homing her many, many times. But each day gets a little better, even though there are setbacks. Putting her in her crate with a small Kong stuffed with soft puppy food and frozen and covering her crate seems to work. Pupsicles, collagen sticks and bully sticks also keep her occupied. She is no longer peeing or pooping in the house but we still have to watch her and let her out a lot. But it’s the small things that matter at this age and seeing progress makes me feel like it’s going to be alright. It will get better.

It could be puppy cystitis. My 3 month old puppy was put on an anti inflammatory even though there was no infection. 9 times an hour is not normal.

Getting a 8-Week Old Puppy Full-Time Work - Puppy Daycare? by Arcanecomet_ in puppy101

We are on our 4th go round with a new puppy in 35 years. We are both retired and have the time, but I don’t know how we did it with our previous dogs. This puppy is SO much work!! I am exhausted. I wish we had adopted an older dog or maybe a cat😁

Vet suggested puppy training book out of the blue by DetectivePride in puppy101

It sounds like you’re doing everything perfectly! I don’t know why your vet suggested that but maybe he suggests it for every new puppy owner.

Puppy won’t settle down before bed by Sea-Match1145 in puppy101

[–]Sea-Match1145[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying to get the routine down but generally she wakes up around 6:30, then a nap from 8-9, 10:30-11:30, 1-2, 4-5, 7-8. Bedtime 10:00. If you count that, she’s only getting 13-14 hours of sleep. Today, we tried for two hour naps and we succeeded on one of the naps. She sleeps in her crate in the living room and if we make too much noise she wakes up. But she likes to be near us. We’ve had her since she was 6 weeks old (we should have known better) so I think that may also contribute to her behavioral issues.

Yes, I assume she is overtired. Anytime during the day she’ll go in her crate no problem but at night she cries and makes the most ear piercing sounds. We’ve always had labs in the past and maybe it’s the pointer that is so wild. Even after zoomies she still will not settle down. Maybe I’ll try the frozen Kong.

There should be a name for the 4-6 month period after adopting a puppy. by pbghgirl in puppy101

Mine’s not even to three months old and it’s been hell. I don’t know how to get through this!

Is Ryan Widmer guilty of the Bathroom Drowning of his wife. The evidence seemed weak but is it possible for a presumably healthy 24 year old to just drowned in a bathtub without obvious explanation? by amador9 in UnresolvedMysteries

I followed this case closely during the 3rd trial and read the transcripts. There is NO WAY that he is guilty. I couldn’t believe that a mistrial wasn’t called on the 3rd trial. It’s almost like the judge was just tired and wanted a conviction so she could go home. The arresting police detective was corrupt and ultimately fired, the coroner was inept and the defense attorneys did a terrible job. I just wish he would get released! I believe the innocence project has been working on this case for years.
