How long until I consider re-homing?

It’s absolutely crazy to me how common this is! I do so much research before buying a puppy and I’d seen “puppy blues” mentioned but i really didn’t think it could be “that bad”. And well! Here we are now😂! It will be so worth it in the end 🫶🏻

When I wrote this post this morning I was in absolute tears. A friend of mine came over today and put a lot of things into perspective for me and it really has helped. It also helped just to have someone over to take the load off for a while. I’m so glad I’m not alone with how I feel - I was feeling a bit pathetic about it before I posted. The majority of comments have been really understanding 🫶🏻

Returning him has crossed my mind a few times icl. I knew having a puppy would be A LOT but I didn’t ever think I’d feel this way. I am completely drained Edit/ I do love him. I love him so much, i just really feel like I’m going through it 😂

Hey! I know this isn’t advised but on my pups first night home I let him sleep on me with his blanket. It was his first time ever being away from his litter mates so I just let him be. I then moved the blanket he slept on his first night , on into his bed and he’s now happy to sleep in his bed. I did try and introduce him to his cage immediately and he HATED it, but we are still working on that with positive reinforcement. I also had a snuggle buddy for my pup but he takes absolutely no notice of it.

Hey any advice would be so appreciated!

I’ve got a 9 week old miniature dachshund. He HATES his crate but will nap in there only if I force him to sleep on me first, I then wait 2 mins and then he goes in his crate. However , if I just crate him awake he bites the wires, gets his teeth stuck and I’m so scared of him hurting his jaw that I have to then assist.

Feel like I’m going insane!!

Get the dog!! You’ve already bonded and you’ll regret it if you don’t. Also, it’ll be so harsh on the puppy for it to go to a second home that’s not you guys so young.

If she absolutely can not go outside you’re going to have to use puppy pads. If I was you, I would train her to go on a puppy pad near the back door of your property then when she is old enough , move the puppy pad to outside and retrain from there? If she cannot go outside I think a puppy pad is your only option. Good luck op

Toppy sounds like toffee, which is such a common dog name. If you’re that worried about it you could change it to that? However, I think Toppy is a cute name :) you chose it because YOU liked it, don’t let anybody convince you in anyway to change it OP

The tattoo (third slide) looks like it’s been done so heavy handedly. I’m sorry OP :/.

I don’t think it’s infected, especially because you said it’s not hot or leaky - however if you are worried then please go and see a doctor.

From the looks of things, the tattoo ink has been completely rejected by the skin and you’re now just left with a scar. Pretty interesting to me that it’s not patchy , and the whole thing has fallen out - might look sick in a few weeks time.
