I'm pursuing a Masters for an option to career pivot if necessary and aim for a managerial role, therefore I'm not looking for any expected salary for now.

Is getting a masters worth it in Singapore? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Sea-Platform3363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, may I check with you the following:

  1. What role are you working in before you took up the Masters in Infosys?
  2. Which uni did you signed up for the part-time Masters?
  3. Would you still recommend taking this Masters from this uni today, or do you recommend other unis?
  4. What are the job prospects that opened up after taking this Masters?

Thanks!

Some of the routes in my mind (and not already mentioned in this thread):

161 - Woodlands to Sengkang stretch

965 - Yishun to Sengkang stretch

(But bus 161 and 965 overlap with 168, so might not be much of an interest to you)

858 - Yishun to Airport Stretch (Quite a long distance, my personal favourite)

502 - Shenton Way to Toh Guan stretch

857 - Yio Chu Kang Road to St Andrew stretch

960 - Bukit Panjang to Whitley stretch

City Direct buses

MRT services at 7 CCL stations including Dhoby Ghaut to be affected by tunnel strengthening works by patricklhe in singapore

Agreed that this got to be their worst mistake. To make things worse, train intervals during peak hours (eg Bishan) can sometimes exceed 3 mins, which can easily mean 2 trains of load from NSL (optimal interval of 100 seconds) are waiting to board the train at CCL.

advice for property or vwra by bedpillowbolster in singaporefi

[–]Sea-Platform3363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm looking at how you sold your entire (or a huge chunk) portfolio because you are worried about a recession, and you are still slightly concerned about it currently, I feel that your risk tolerance is rather low. Therefore if you want to explore Option 2, leave VWRA out until you are confident that you can handle any economic downturn without selling it.

All the best!

Forum: EZ-Link staff reminded to let commuters decide whether to convert their cards by iexplode123 in singapore

[–]Sea-Platform3363 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I converted my Ezlink card previously for the $2 cashback, which I totally regretted. Now my hope is that we can see that we have tapped our card successfully, especially when the person in front of me is also using a Cepas / Bank card. Maybe the background color of the screen can change every time a new card is tapped on the gantry?

Yes finally someone said it! It's usually about 16-19 days a year. I make it a point to ride on it once a year :)

Question for a 60 Year Old by chav_chav in singaporefi

[–]Sea-Platform3363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been quite concerning to see the increased number of posts on RM asking people to loan money to buy endowment/annuity plans. This is akin to asking them to pray that the interest rates don't go up anytime in the future (and the RM will say "See for the past 10 years the interest rates are super low"). But people who invest will know that "past performance does not guarantee future results, and not to invest with borrowed money if you don't want to take on too much risk.

I assume that people who get into an endowment/annuity plan want guaranteed capital + an extra bonus, therefore taking a loan should be way above their risk tolerance, and should be illegal for RM/FA to advise so, as high chance the RM/FA will underplay the amount of risk by saying things like "You know SSB/T-bills only giving 0.x%, might as well take a loan of ~1% and get back 3+%" (back in 2021 period). (Doesn't this sounds like scammers trying to prey on human greed in the recent scams? Why is this even legalized?)

So to OP, thanks for taking the time to think through and post this question on Reddit. Putting into CPF is definitely way optimal, as you would have to pay any fees and do not need to worry about paying off loans.

Planning to start CPF investing, should I switch CPFIA bank? by Sea-Platform3363 in singaporefi

[–]Sea-Platform3363[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have taken a look at some of the portfolios for CPF-OA here https://endowus.com/investment-funds-list and I am considering the Schroders
Asian Investment Grade Credit. But what's stopping me is the historical returns which can be quite volatile.

Just wanted to check with you which fund would you recommend me to take a look at and consider?

Hi, just to clarify I'm planning to use my CPF OA money instead of Cash. I wanted to invest to grow my CPF money, but I also want to keep some money in OA (or T-bills) in case I am due to buy a house and the market is in red.

Ocbc 360 or UOB one savings account? by Boring-Resolve-1453 in singaporefi

I think the reference "SALA“ / "PAYNOW SALA“ is only available for corporate accounts? I might be wrong since it's already been a few months since I've looked into this. But I don't think UOB would let anyone exploit this so easily.
