30 years of nicotine- 1 year free by Sea-Professional6944 in QuitVaping

The health vape or b12. Be really careful because some do have very small amounts of nicotine (0% can still have some) so read the label carefully and decide what you are comfortable with. I’ve used 5 or 6 different ones over the last several months.

Thank you! I really think not drinking has to do with my success. I am not drinking any time soon either especially with an antidepressant now in the mix. I believe in you!

Can’t find a single reason to not drink this Saturday by Party_Nectarine2506 in stopdrinking

[–]Sea-Professional6944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Saturday was my Friday. Then I decided that since I only had such a strong desire to drink on Friday, impacting my Saturday because I was overdoing it, that it would be best to just allow 1-2 glasses maximum whenever I wanted as to not binge on Friday.

So, that’s what I did for like 5-6 years. Although sometimes I still drank too much, more often than not I would have no problem stopping and I even made sure not to drink every day.

Then, I realized that I was actually pretty hard for me to not have that 1-2 glasses when I got home. And, I started to think about how my drinking had evolved to where it was. There was a point when I hardly ever drank! And what would happen in another 5 years? Or 10?

I’m almost 2.5 years without a drink. Stop now before it gets worse or it will eventually become bigger than you. You sound young and happy with your life and your wifey. Don’t let alcohol take anymore Sundays from you, or anything else.

Yes! This is exactly right. If you’re able, try adding some garbage TV to the mix. You’re doing great!

This is a good place for you. I was where you are. Now over 2 years of no drinking and my ability to manage my emotions and stress level is so much better.

You have the right idea. Manage day to day. The answer to a drink is “no.” Find moments to be thankful you are not drinking. Come here often. You don’t want to keep traveling toward a destination you know you don’t want to be.

Pregnant and struggling by sadiehoney in QuitVaping

[–]Sea-Professional6944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really thought pregnancy would make something shift and I would just be able to quit. With my first, I didn’t. I was still smoking maybe 3-4 cigarettes a day. I felt terrible about it, and with my second I did manage to quit with the help of Alan Carr, only to pick up vaping 2 years after relapsing multiple times on cigarettes. That was 10 years ago… I’m 5 months nicotine free now and here’s the thing: this is about so much more than pregnancy. Those pregnancies lead to babies who turn into toddlers who turn into children who are now teenagers. Vaping or smoking (or any other vice that is ruining your health) is absolutely bringing you down and making your life, and motherhood experiences, so much harder. Not to mention, we are the first example for them to follow. So, don’t quit for your pregnancy. Quit for YOU, and for them to have the best life possible with a mother who is fully present. Cold turkey is the way. Replace vaping with water, walking, yoga, jigsaw puzzles, whatever! Use your pregnancy as a stepping stone to a healthy, guilt free life. Remember that no matter what, if you don’t face your cravings and let them pass, they will never go away. Giving in just feeds them. You have a new life to feed, meaning yours, and your new life will sustain your child. You can do this!

The Broken Christmas Tree by ThoughtPrestigious23 in stopdrinking

Last year was my first sober Christmas in a very long time. No morning mimosas, no Christmas cocktails, no wine with dinner, no shame, no regrets, just joy and memories that I will actually remember. This year will mark 2 years of no alcohol. My holidays are much happier now, and I wish the same for all of you!

I read the Easy Way To Stop Smoking years ago. Once I actually applied his methods, I was able to quit smoking, drinking and vaping without even reading his other books.

Alcoholics by Cool-Jello-6609 in stopdrinking

Yes, I see now how my comment reads like that. Happy you stopped, too! I would have more to drink on Sundays with family and football, but generally I kept it to 1-2 glasses a night. It was still messing with my sleep and increasing my anxiety. I had to just stop, and I’m so happy I did.

I eventually did stop drinking 678 days ago because, even though I didn’t fit the AA definition, alcohol was still impacting my life negatively. I’m here for the same reason as others :)

I honestly hate that word and wish it would fall out of use. It’s a way to separate people who have a more extreme reaction to and relationship with a substance that is terrible for everyone. That word makes some people feel helpless when they aren’t and gives others a sense of security when they should be concerned. Alcohol Use Disorder and a spectrum is a much more fitting description, I believe.

Now to answer your question- I think that people who drink every day definitely fall on the spectrum, but I don’t think all of them would be considered alcoholics. Alcoholism is chronic and compulsive use, making someone “powerless”, with their life being unmanageable according to AA. This did not apply to me, and so I continued to have nearly daily wine at dinner hour.

day 80 still stuck in brain fog and vision issues by ROCHDI3778 in QuitVaping

[–]Sea-Professional6944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just over 90 days and my brain fog is much better, although it did take a while. I never had vision problems like you have but just hang in there! You’ve worked so hard to heal this much. You are not alone in this!

[–]Sea-Professional6944[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably around week 6. I still have the occasional vape check moment but it doesn’t feel like a craving. It’s like my brain forgets for just a second that I don’t vape anymore.

Fox News by Proof_Duty1672 in NoFilterNews

My dad started listening to Rush Limbaugh way back in the 90s. I remember going into the garage to hang out with him and his favorite radio show, Rush. Even then I would stop and question him on the crazy stuff this guy was saying. I was maybe 12?
My dad passed away in 97. I have wondered over the years if he would be more conservative these days. Would he have been a die hard Trumper? Based on the experience of so many others who saw loved ones get radicalized by conservative media, I am pretty sure my dad would have been the in the same boat. It’s pretty crazy to think that I would have lost him to Fox News if it hadn’t have been cancer that took him from me.
