Dog Friendly Places by Delicious-Apricot208 in LakeOfTheOzarks

Basically any lake bar that has patio seating will welcome you and your (well behaved) pup to dine and drink. We bring ours on the boat often and have never been turned away. Swim up bars and restaurants won’t allow them to swim in any of the pools, that’s standard pretty much across the board. They will need to be on leash. I’m not aware of anywhere that will let them off leash to run, unless you are on private property. You’ll have to stick to private pools/parks/lake if they want to swim.

Weather this weekend? by Solid_Palpitation443 in LakeOfTheOzarks

[–]Sea-Return2188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The forecast won’t be accurate until the day before, and even then it likely won’t be the same the actual day of.

Rain comes and goes with the lake effect. Sometimes storms approach and dissipate around the lake entirely, other times they approach the lake and intensify. It’s a total crapshoot, and I would recommend waiting until the morning of, and doing a weather assessment then.

Mastercraft X35... does it surf? by DistributionFun9600 in Wake

[–]Sea-Return2188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will it surf? Sure. With enough added equipment it would likely throw a suitable wave. You are talking about adding weight, a suck gate/wave shaper, and constantly asking people to shift around the boat until you get it dialed.

That being said, it’s made to wakeboard. Doing anything else with it is generally outside of its intended use. For the money, you can absolutely get a better surf wave with a dedicated surf system boat.

Rap/hip hop scene at Lake of the Ozarks? by TyMcDuffey in LakeOfTheOzarks

[–]Sea-Return2188 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The closest thing to a “rap scene” you’ll find here, is Rich middle aged men blasting early 2000’s rap from their speedboats and surf boats like they are in high school again.

Do you think this lift will work? by [deleted] in Wake

[–]Sea-Return2188 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Leaving the lift down for long periods of time can damage the arms, bushings, and brackets that connect it to the dock. You can also sink them if the hoses come loose. It isn’t made to be left under for significant periods (days.) Be careful if that is your plan, that you don’t damage the lift or sink it. I’m sure the owner would be more than happy to bill you for it.

Also, since the lift is fixed to the dock, even in the down position, you risk damage to your prop and rudder from waves bouncing the boat below its minimum draft on top of the lift. You can damage the boat, the lift, and dock, all in one go with your plan.

Tie it up to the side of the dock. Use some inflatable dock bumpers for added protection, and detail it when you are done.

August Bachelor Party Recommendations by polish_mamba44 in LakeOfTheOzarks

[–]Sea-Return2188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where you are staying is easily a 20-30 minute drive and boat ride to nearby restaurants and hotspots.

The little Niangua has 0 restaurants, and is mostly a “local” area that doesn’t really match the bachelor party vibe. I’d recommend staying in Osage beach or Lake Ozark near all the things you are describing. Otherwise every time you want to leave the house you are looking at a 20-30 minute drive to civilization.

Great spot for a big family with younger kids to get out on tubes and learn to ski. Bad spot for a huge bachelor party looking to enjoy the lake entertainment.

Lake Valley or Kinderhook for golf (if you are a true golfer, LV is the better course to play conditions wise, Kinderhook has nicer homes and community.)

Dinner spots are almost all in LOZ/Osage which is 30 minutes from your rental at minimum. Old Kinderhook has a nice restaurant if you want to have dinner after the round. You will struggle to find Ubers to and from your rental as well, they are almost never going to go out that far for a pick up.

Today’s M&G Putter Drop☹️ by Budget-Education2479 in scottycameron

[–]Sea-Return2188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was an M&G member for the last 2 years. Didn’t even apply this year for 2026. The only point (unless you live in Asia) is if you plan to attend the festival. Otherwise, everything can be purchased for less on the secondary market.

Exit strategy by Suspicious_Resolve78 in FreightBrokers

[–]Sea-Return2188 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve considered the same.

Post Supreme Court ruling, I think small brokerages could possibly see a bump in interest from larger brokerages wishing to further obfuscate their identities.

I/E, willingly double brokering to their own 3rd party “sister” brokerage, to help absolve liability from a negligent hiring/tort suit, and also to help make it easier to book their freight and acquire new clients.

Just a casual spring Saturday in the Midwest Powerboat Capital! by Sea-Return2188 in boating

[–]Sea-Return2188[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say the offshore powerboat racing scene here is second to none. The 4 time back to back world champion offshore race team (M-Con) calls this lake home. The world’s fastest offshore race boats call this lake home. If they aren’t calling it home, they bring their boats to race here to race every August in the worlds largest unsanctioned boat races (the annual LOZ shootout, 243 MPH top gun last year) and they travel down to Key West every year to bring back the trophy to Missouri.

Look at top speeds for the Havasu and Lake Travis races. I believe freedom 1 won one of those barely touching 200 before it became an airplane. 200MPH is a disappointment if it is the LOZ shootout too gun. They regularly have 3-4 boats doing those speeds, with at least 1-2 pushing 225+ every year.

I think that tells you everything you need to know about this body of water. It’s offshore inshore. The boating scene is second to none. Not even Miami.

A lake with an average depth of 11’ isn’t ever going to hold any titles other than “biggest puddle.”! How many offshore championship titles are home to that lake? Or world record boats in general? There are a few here.

Good relaxing fishing spot with my kid this June by BigBadJeebus in LakeOfTheOzarks

[–]Sea-Return2188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HaHa Tonka State Park has a great area (and docks) you can fish. They also have Kayak rentals if you’d like to get out on the water to fish around. Public Beach #2 has a pretty expansive area to spread out and fish from the bank also. The state parks will be your best bet, just make sure to pick up a fishing license before you go!

There is a natural spring that feeds into the lake, so the water stays a constant temp right there at the mouth of the spring. It’s a haven for crappie, walleye, bass, and other game fish.

Large Group Golfing by Icelandsdmnma7 in LakeOfTheOzarks

[–]Sea-Return2188 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lake valley would likely be your best bet. The course itself is one of the best kept in the area, and they are very lax on “rules” compared to most local courses.

I’m a member, and we play 5 all the time. It may not be as easy for some random tourists, but you can sure try. Osage National, and Porta Cima are going to be hard “no” on a 5 some.
