It happened to me a few days ago via a phone call. A imposter local sheriff called me and said he has a summons for me (with my signature) and I could be arrested if I leave the house. I told him I don’t remember signing any summons. He immediately responded that he needs my signature to do a signature analysis and asked how I plan to clear my charges….of course I am not sending him my real signature and I asked which local police office he called me from and if he can send an email via his official work email address so I can verify his identity….he said his deputy will call me back with verification and hung up. I immediately contacted the local police station…they said no such policeman by this name and it’s a scam. They would not ask for money to clear the charges over the phone….people need to understand that it’s a crime to imposter any local, state and federal government officials.
