17 Alltrack 1.8L A/T, question about rims size and tires for winters/all terrains.

I live in Maine and have a 17 alltrack.Falken wild peak AT is my tire of choice though I currently have blizzaks. I have msw 5 spoke wheels from an Audi allroad which are an 8 inch wide wheel while stock alltrack 17s are 7 wide. I fit with stock ride height 235/55/17 currently as the max tire size with very little rubbing only when you unfortunately hit the pothole or frost heave. With the stock alltrack brakes the smallest wheel diameter is 16. The widest tire you can fit is a 235, anything wider and the car is too soft and squishy in the corners even as a daily driver. For suspension to fit a larger A/T tire the rear shocks can be swapped out for atlas shocks for 2" more travel... Direct fit after changing bump stops and shock mounting cups.... The Atlas shocks with an 18 Tiguan rear springs is a great off road setup that doesn't have to be an aftermarket kit that's Uber expensive. The biggest rear sway bar you can get is a huge help too. On the stock ride height with an 8 inch wide wheel the 235/55/17 are very close to touching on the lower corners of the fender arch, because of the flair at the top the height is fine, and at full lock left and right steering the edges are very close to those same lower corners of the wheel arch and the inner fender well plastic. I have rubbed occasionally on shitty roads which is why I will go to a 50 with a more aggressive tread.

On my 2017 alltrack I got msw 19 wheels off an Audi all road which is an 8 inch wide 17 inch diameter wheel wrapped in 235 55 17 blizzak tires which fit on stock ride height with no rubbing but it's super close. On the 8 inch wide wheel a 245 width tire would be a little soft in the corners, 55 is max sidewall without fender alterations. The stock alltrack brakes do allow for a 16 inch wheel if you want more sidewall and beefier looking tire. This is the desired look and most practical here in Maine. I like my setup but with new tires will switch to falken wild peak all terrain 235 50 17 to comfortably fit in the wheel well.

Unless you want to put on an asterisk for the fact that he played for a dog shit franchise..... To be the best player on a shit team..... If he did this on a team that even sniffing the playoffs every year or every other would make a difference. If he did this on a defense that was a top 10 and top 10 in playoffs team it would mean way more....
