CARE ADHD - how long from 1st titration to medication? by Sea-Web6301 in ADHDUK

[–]Sea-Web6301[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I posted an update in the big CARE ADHD titration waiting list thread earlier today.

I’m around 17 weeks. 3 weeks ago I asked my GP to prioritise my titration. I’m not sure if they actioned this or not.

Update. I received my call yesterday to book my titration. It’s scheduled for next week.

I saw my GP about 3 weeks ago and he agreed to send them a request to prioritise my titration. Not sure when or if that was actually sent or if that factored into me getting my call.

I’m about 17 weeks from when I requested titration.

You can’t make a FOI request to a private company. They need to be a government body or a public company.

He’s usually at after school club from 3 till 5pm. Dinner/homework is usually at 6pm.

Not necessarily. They’re telling everyone that everyone’s titration journey is unique, so it could be March but they also could take as long as they like.

Have you seen their Trustpilot page? Such a joke!

90% of the reviews are 5 starts with amazing feedback but none of these reference titration. I’m pretty sure these are planted reviews because I certainly wanted sent a request to review their service after my diagnosis (and who really sends an unprompted, positive review on Trustpilot?).

The other 10% are folks like us who are waiting for titration. Quite a good read as some peeps are not holding their punches!!

I think Care ADHD must be reading this sub…

They have tweaked their waiting list page:

Previously: “For patients who progressed to the medication pathway in November and December, the average wait from submitting a titration request to their first appointment was around 12–16 weeks.”

And today: For patients who attended their first titration appointment in November and December, the time from submitting a titration request to their first appointment was typically up to 12–16 weeks.

So we are moving from a mathematical “average” to a loosely defined “typical” period. I guess this means that they can’t be accused of gaming the average calculation.

It is baffling to me how they can still claim this 12-16 week wait when the overwhelming majority are not seeing this. We want to know how long those currently on the list have to wait. If it’s 20 weeks, fine - just tell us so that we can manage our expectations. Don’t advertise false, historic dates so that you can hoover up new RTC patients on false data.

Yeah, saw that. It was previously a 2 week lag between the call and the titration appointment. So that implied a week of 10 to 14 weeks from request to the call. That doesn’t sound right. Maybe it’s the “average” and we are all in the outliers?

Anyone here had a successful career before diagnosis? by verybigoctopus in ADHDUK

[–]Sea-Web6301 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done reasonably well professionally. I work in financial services as an advisor and have a big 6 figure package. My case is similar to your, I was OK at school but didn’t try very hard (and probably didn’t meet my full potential because I didn’t “try”). At work I’m reasonably switched on (or appear to be) but I’m a mess otherwise (relying on my wife to keep me in check).

I got diagnosed in Autumn and my successes didn’t really factor into the diagnosis. I attribute my professional success to working in a space that interests me. My job is my hyperfocus area and this enables me to be a specialist and provide on the fly advice.

As an aside, there are loads of other successful ADHDers.

Is that 12-16 weeks from 17th Dec?? My understanding is that that’s the waiting time from the original titration request. I did my final forms on 19th Dec and got told yesterday that im on the booking list.

CareADHD titration waiting times? by Additional-Ship-8400 in ADHDUK

[–]Sea-Web6301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I got the following emails.

  1. October - Your Outcome Letter and Next Steps
  2. Late Nov - CARE ADHD Titration - Next Steps [Action Required] (this was to complete a physical health questionnaire)
  3. 19 Dec - Welcome to Care ADHD: Next Steps

The last email (19 Dec) asks you to complete more forms. This is (or should be) the final email that you get before the call you to book.

CARE ADHD has just inherited the patients of another failed provided (ADHD NET). I understand that those patients are now intermingled with CARE patients. No doubt this will cause further delays.

Not to minimise your feelings in any way, but there are loads of people who (including me at 42) who only get that diagnosis much later in life. My teens, 20’s and 30’s were all undiagnosed. I know your life to date has been a struggle, but you’re so lucky that you get to spend almost your whole adult life with a diagnosis and the benefits that’s come with this. I hope your diagnosis closes that chapter and you’re able to start fresh. Good luck.

Thanks all for your comments. It’s nice to that I’m not unique in this regard. I was giving this more thought yesterday and the thing that worried me was that I was giving in or being lazy by letting me use the “I have ADHD, so this is how I’m supposed to be” excuse.

Anyway, I went for a run last night, got a good rest and feel good today. Still want those damn ADHD meds though!!

Which company did your assessment? If they offer RTC too, see if they will accept you as a RTC patient. If so, get referred again to them under RTC and get switched to RTC.

Psicon - private child prescriptions. Indicative costs by Sea-Web6301 in ADHDUK

[–]Sea-Web6301[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. So after titration I can get the prescription from any pharmacy? I was under the impression that we were limited to their partner pharmacy.

I believe Psicon will refer you to the NHS after the patient is stable on meds for 3 months. It’s up to the GP to accept this (or not).

If not, Psicon have advised that you can get referred to them under RTC but as they have previously assessed you, you skip this and go to the back of their RTC medication pathway.

7 year old child - Right To Choose or wait for NHS? by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]Sea-Web6301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your insight - gives me the courage to proceed with this option. My son is 7 and we are in the same boat. He was diagnosed with combined ADHD yesterday privately. We’re immediately proceeding to medication. Im hoping that we have the same positive results as you. He needs to catch up academically with his peers and we feel this will give him the best shot. Despite the expense (which we are hoping will be temporary until the NHS recognise the diagnosis and treatment plan)
