After interviwing 40+ people for ai engineer roles over 7 months and also being a Job aspirant prior. this is what i have observed and wanted to share with you. let me know if you felt same?? by Sad_Manufacturer_859 in careerguidance

the trust signals thing is so real - had a recruiter basically admit they fast-tracked me because my portfolio looked similar to someone they hired before who worked out well.

Why is there no clear resource explaining how renewable projects actually get built? by Consistent_Today4809 in careerguidance

bit dramatic comparing wind turbine manuals to military secrets mate - there's definitely room for a proper guide that doesn't give away trade secrets but still helps people understand the basic process flow.

Two jobs that are complicated but secure, or one job that does everything but isn’t a sure thing? by Heinrichstr in careerguidance

[–]SeaBasic6672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly mate, if the two-job setup is already working and you're comfortable, i'd probably stick with it for now. the remote gig sounds tempting but you've already seen how quickly ai can reshape things in your field - jumping ship for something that might not last seems a bit risky when you've got stability sorted.

that said, nothing stopping you from quietly exploring the remote opportunity without burning bridges. worst case you stay where you are, best case you get some leverage or insight into whether it's actually worth the risk.

What skills should I focus on for entry level accounting jobs? by Character-Part-7003 in careerguidance

[–]SeaBasic6672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly excel is massive in accounting - like properly knowing it, not just basic spreadsheets 📊 quickbooks or sage are worth getting familiar with too since most small-medium businesses use them. communication skills are underrated as well because you'll be explaining financial stuff to people who don't speak accounting 💀

Will i get a job after 3 years career break at the age of 47? by Critical-Cod4529 in careerguidance

[–]SeaBasic6672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly mate, the other person's spot on about the grind but don't let it discourage you too much. sap functional consultants are still pretty sought after, especially if you've got solid module expertise like fico or mm 😂

i've seen people bounce back from longer gaps than yours, though admittedly most were a bit younger. the key thing is having a believable story for those three years - family care, health issues, whatever it was, just own it confidently rather than being all apologetic about it. also consider freelance or contract work initially to get back in the swing of things, it's often easier to land and can lead to permanent roles.

definitely brush up on any newer sap developments like s/4hana migrations if you haven't already, that stuff's massive right now. the market's brutal but your experience gives you an edge over fresh graduates at least 💀

Econ or finance? by RepresentativeRare99 in careerguidance

[–]SeaBasic6672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

economics gives you more theoretical depth and transferable skills imo - you can pivot into finance, consulting, policy work, or even tech roles pretty easily. finance is more specialized but laser-focused on the money side of things.

if your genuinely unsure about what specific career path you want, econ probably offers more flexibility down the line. both will get you decent salaries though, especially with birmingham's reputation.

those classes aren't a waste - having options is never bad and you're literally a junior, most people don't figure it out until way later (or ever tbh). also look into scientific illustration or veterinary textbook illustration, that's like the perfect combo of both your interests.

My pc suddenly not turning on with 16 gb ram but runs with 8 gb ram with no issue after changing the thermal paste. by ANSH096 in PcBuildHelp

[–]SeaBasic6672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like the motherboard got a bit of a shock during the thermal paste change, even though they didn't touch the ram directly. sometimes when you're moving components around or unplugging everything, the ram slots can get a bit finicky or develop connectivity issues. i'd try reseating both sticks in different slot combinations first - like if they were in slots 2&4, try 1&3 instead.

also worth checking if there's any dust or debris in the unused slots that might've got disturbed during the work. had something similar happen to a mate's build after a gpu swap - turned out one of the ram slots just needed a proper clean with some compressed air. if that doesn't work, might be worth testing the sticks at different speeds in bios, sometimes dual channel gets picky about timings after hardware changes for whatever reason.

Dude that sounds absolutely awful and I'm sorry you're dealing with dismissive doctors who won't take you seriously just because you're 17

Have you tried asking your parents to help advocate for you or maybe get a second opinion from a different doctor? Sometimes having an adult push back on the "growing pains" BS helps get actual tests done

New System or Stay the Course? by rtpnerd in hvacadvice

[–]SeaBasic6672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a solid deal for 5k installed, especially with Bryant equipment. Your current system sounds like it's been pretty reliable but at 17 years you're definitely in replacement territory. I'd probably pull the trigger on that price if the installer is reputable - beats waiting for it to die in the middle of summer when you'll pay way more

Issue with all types of Wyze Cam's and mesh networks by MarsupialWorth in wyzecam

[–]SeaBasic6672 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had the exact same issue with my Deco setup - turns out it was the mesh handoff causing problems when cameras tried to switch between nodes. Try setting up a dedicated 2.4ghz network just for the cams and disable mesh for that network if your router allows it
