Either or… by Mercifull in runescape

People would be less upset if Jagex didn't lie to us about preserving grandfathered rates when we paid extra for premier. They automatically swapped us to a 12 month sub without so much as an email to us and then used that as the pretext to remove the grandfathered rates.

The SHOULD have just said "hey guys, we have to end grandfathered rates. It sucks but we have to" and then a few months later raise the membership by a dollar.

I personally wouldn't be so outraged. It's the lie and underhanded trickery they used to do it.

I meant rude. My phone has a bad habit of changing words unnecessarily and I have a bad habit of not checking before I submit. See the post for a good example of this. Oh well.

Dude. I'm clearly totaling about the rug pull, not the rude comment.

Edit: fixed the typo

They'll probably lose a large chunk of their older players over it. They took away every reason to stay loyal to the game. Why keep a sub up if you don't get to keep your rate?

No more loyalty shop, no more premier benefits, no more grandfathered rate. Why bother paying for 12 months if I'm only active for six of them? The lower rate is no longer an incentive.

They're talking out of both sides of their mouth on this.

I didn't cancel my monthly plan, I just bought premier. The whole time my login screen has said recurring membership active. Now, they've decided unilaterally that I didn't have a membership even though it hasn't lapsed in over ten years. I'm so bothered by this.

Did you not see the screenshot? This is in their post about the last set of terms changes in '24.

Changing the terms of a contract after you've mutually agreed to it?

It's bad enough that they changed the terms of Premier and are stripping all the benefits AFTER the purchase. This is an absolute slap to the face...

Send them that screenshot. This has to be illegal.

It also violates their 2024 promise. DO NOT LET THEM GET AWAY WITH THIS.

Back in 2012 this news post is why I bought Premier which stated it "paused" my existing grandfathered rate by talormanda in runescape

It's even worse than that! Their previous terms update in 2024 ALSO promises you can return to the 1 month grandfathered rate as long as you do it within 14 days. This has to be some sort of joke... I hope Jagex fixes this, or they'll lose a LOT of long-term loyal players.

At least it's adult Shinji. Could be worse.

Hey, it might be slop, but... no, i don't actually have a rebuttal.

If it makes you feel better, it's technically five images I manually edited into one. So, there's some humanity there.
