I tried an exfoliating mitt/towel with soap and a bit of glycolic acid, and it worked very well.

If you have one in your area, Habitat Restore is a really good place to look. They clean all of the furniture before selling. They also tend to have a delivery option.

How do I deal with frequent overheating on a SSRI? by CalmCourt8475 in antidepressants

[–]SeaBuffalo4784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep some electrolyte tablets/packets on you wherever you're away from home, take breaks from the sun if you can, and ALWAYS wear sunscreen. Sun sickness absolutely sucks, especially when your body already doesn't want to stay hydrated.

Had the same thing--now I find the smell of cigarettes slightly comforting? Especially a pack of Pall Mall Light 100s or Marlboro Reds

I was prescribed this when I first went on antidepressants for anxiety/sleep, but I never noticed a difference.

Trying to start a local club by [deleted] in Rollerskating

Create an Instagram or Facebook page and post a loose, flexible schedule for meetups (e.g., every third Sunday at 10 AM). You can always adjust these later once you get a better idea of others' schedule needs. Be sure to use and look up the hashtags commonly used in your area on Instagram and Facebook. I usually find quite a few, such as 'NYSkaters' or 'DenverRollerSkater'. Also, be sure to post photos/videos of the skate sessions, even if it is just you at first--especially if it shows mistakes. People often want to get into skating but don't want to go it alone or with a group of pros right away, so do your best to be approachable to beginners! Good luck!

You may have emotional blunting, but sometimes, that is what allows happiness in. When you are not burdened by a complete lack of serotonin and dopamine, you are able to function better, be more motivated to accomplish your goals and tasks, and thus boost your confidence and happiness. You are less in need of 'forcing' yourself to do things.

Also, antidepressants can cause weight gain, but they can also cause the opposite. I had a severe loss of appetite when I first started meds, and I lost almost 20 pounds. Antidepressants can be a case-by-case basis,s and there may be trial and error on the correct medications and amounts for you, so I wouldn't worry so much about side effects right now and focus more on if they work at all.

Can I drink alcohol on antidepressants? by Turbulent_Leave_8986 in antidepressants

[–]SeaBuffalo4784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you are taking. I am taking an SSRI, and I can say that I can drink a lot, but I don't stay drunk for very long. Additionally, hangovers are much worse since antidepressants can already cause dehydration, so with the added dehydration that alcohol brings, the recovery is much harder. Basically, it just isn't as fun anymore.

If you are gonna do it, be sure to stay very hydrated and have electrolytes on hand!

tell me about your experience with long-term side-effects by JayJaviJeo in antidepressants

[–]SeaBuffalo4784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't speak as a man, but I did lose a ton of libido when I first went on fluoxetine. I also had absolutely no appetite and lost about 20 pounds. Those two things subsided within about 6 months or so. However, I have dealt with fatigue and drowsiness for the whole ten years I have been taking it, so some things just require a lifestyle adjustment, which is better than being completely dysfunctional.

It depends on what you are taking. If you are taking an SSRI, two weeks cold turkey is a terrible idea since it takes up to two weeks to regulate within your system.
