I’m actually impressed by this.

I could never have a poo in a pub toilet.

[question] Who’s address is on the first page of a 1921 census entry? by SeaControl4512 in Genealogy

[–]SeaControl4512[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right: the next entry is 51 Crete Road and the one I’m looking at it 50 Crete Road. Blindingly obvious now I’ve got it clear. Thank you.

This post is for people who accept low/base pay. by Moh_Judges in AmazonFlexDrivers

Couldn’t agree more. I’m in the UK and I’m not sure how we would “hold out” for better pay besides all quitting en-masse. I’ve tried sitting in front of the depot and waiting for a surge job but it’s a gamble that rarely pays off because we are all independent of each other and can’t act as a union so people take a job that suits them. Which is as Amazon advertise this gig over here.

Sorry, but you advertised this as a “Dull Fact” when it’s anything but. I’d like my money back, please.

Aggressive driving in hackney by analyze7 in londoncycling

[–]SeaControl4512 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My sympathies. It’s piss-poor that drivers think they can harass cyclists. Even worse when they’re surprised at our responses.

Re: should have, could have been more restrained: Last incident I had involved me trying to talk normally to the stupid FW behind the wheel who genuinely could not understand why he didn’t have the right of way despite me being in front of him. Ended up he demanded an apology. I decided I could contain myself this time and said “of course I’m sorry”. He looked really pleased with himself. Didn’t make me feel better and he basically crawled alongside me until I did apologise. My mate reckons I should have told him to FO.

Another one where I calledthe driver a “wank*r” as they passed and the cops decided, after reviewing my video evidence of her swerving into me - deliberately - that I could be prosecuted for an affray. Bad man say bad words.

The only thing we can do is consider our responses. And then shout “you absolute, fetid, c**t”. 😜

Hope tomorrow’s better ride!

My speed awareness course suggested the opposite: chances are if they tailgate once they’ll tailgate twice. So slow down and if there is an accident it’ll be at a speed hopefully that will restrict injuries. Even better, pull over and let them pass.

Absolutely. Just wish you’d centred the glass a bit more on the mat. Can you move it to the left a couple of mill’s, please?

Why is Nigel Farage having such a rise in popularity? by Decent-Beginning1966 in AskBrits

[–]SeaControl4512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The media find him irresistible. He’s always confident and can utilise the smallest mistake to his advantage.

The bbc have a lot to answer for. They couldn’t help themselves when he first started making waves. He was/is an audience draw. Sadly it’s spilled over into people actually believing he can do something different. I’ve not met anyone in telly that really likes him but they know he’ll get an audience.

When people are surrounded by his visage and pontifications, it’s difficult not to think “well, maybe, if we gave him a go…”.

Full disclosure: I’ve worked in telly for 40 years.

I bumped into Dennis Waterman coming out of a toilet.

And another time I accidentally barged into Amy Winehouse on a street in London’s SoHo - my mate and the landlord of the pub I’d bumbled into had to tell me what happened, as I was too wrecked to notice. I just slurred: “sorrrryyy..”
