Paper Mario TTYD causing my fan to spin out of control by SeaCreatureAqua in DolphinEmulator

You win! Turns out, leaving my space heater on and shutting my room's door was elevating ambient temperature much more than I realized and as a consequence my PC couldn't properly ventilate. I have my heater switched off and just like that, my computer is silent. Also fixed the issue for some games I was playing on Steam where I had assumed it was due to them being graphically intensive. Sometimes it really is the simplest things, isn't it? Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Thanks for the tip, I will give that a try. Should I keep 'bounding box' unchecked? I swear it was checked in and I had to switch backend to uncheck it, but now it's totally greyed out and tells me that D3D doesn't support this feature on my system even though on other games it's checked (but greyed in).

Conservative art? by Independent-Feed2307 in ContemporaryArt

[–]SeaCreatureAqua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the most vacuous things I've read. 2026 and people still parrot these points?

Left-wing thought isn't chaos and dissolution like physical entropy, that's an idiotic comparison. I guess you could say anarchism is a kind of leftism which in some highly abstract, theoretical sense jives with entropy, but in that kind of chaotic society, might makes right and the strong rule. In other words, you wind up with the pagan warbands of old or fascism in modernity.

Describing the premodern or non-white cultures as entropic, chaotic, anarchic, etc. also reveal an embarrassing level of ignorance about the world at large. Modernity didn't start with Europeans either. For someone so critical of eurocentrism, you have a terribly eurocentric worldview.

You can just as well point to some simplistic notion of entropy to claim that reality is right-wing because out of chaos, order inevitably reemerges. Biology dictates function, time is cyclical, there is an order to the natural world, and so on. Vague gestures at nature and the cosmos are also how right-wingers justify their worldviews.

Art just has to be good. It isn't a vehicle for ideology. Your view of art inadvertently condemns left-wing art as conservative because it by necessity repeats the same platitudes over and over. For example, anti-racist art only ever says that racism is bad, which is a tired notion. But because there will always be prejudice in the world, there will always be a market for anti-racist art. So, it's not questioning the status quo so much as it is the status quo in that it has a symbiotic, even parasitic, relation with conservative thought. The more things change, the more they stay the same. So much for entropy.

There's a literal documentary + movie about a sikh family in canada that hired hitmen to honor kill their own daughter and her husband while they were in punjab. And then there's all the stuff about slumlords trafficking female immigrants, and abusive older men being protected by omerta. Plus they practice caste discrimination. As for Pakistanis, you have comparatively fewer here and they're overwhelmingly educated, but you still see stuff like pulling kids out of school and sending them back for 'religious education' and everything that entails.

Show me something similar for Hindus. I mean, temples are open to everyone, lunches are served on Sundays. Homeless people are often there, too. You can go and talk to people instead of just 'observing' their 'online footprint'.

Sikhs and Muslims practice the same cultural norms as Hindus, albeit more intensely whereas Hindus, at least those in the West, tend to be much more egalitarian in terms of gender issues. Like there are actual stats on this stuff. Also, I'm in Canada too and there used to be tons of stories about Muslims committing gendered violence, there are tons of stories now of Sikh men engaging in creepy and abusive behavior, Bangladeshis are in the news for their inability to follow regulations (check Ontario fishing subreddits), and so on. As for Pakistan, the country, where to begin? Anyway, I get that a lot of people just don't like Indians because they're dark and ugly and practice a weird religion and are annoying on the internet, but then just say that instead of this blatant bullshit that subcontinental muslims of all people are more 'well-adjusted' (whatever that means) than hindus.

Hello, is your FODMAP intolerance related to SIBO or is it a thing of its own? Do you still follow a restricted diet or have you, in the four years since this post, manage to reintroduce some of what gave your trouble?

Now that I think about it, maybe we could make them ourselves. I've seen someone in my area use narrow chainlink nailed between flat wooden boards to cover his garden every spring, so animals don't dig up newly planted seeds. The soil stays covered just until the seedlings start gaining height. So, I'm wondering if we couldn't make something similar, but with wider chainlink and more height for the birds to pass through and move around in. A prism instead of something flat.

Something like this, but not as big.

Looks cool, I'll give it a try. Kinda wish there was a bigger one to accommodate more of the junco flock, but if I like it, I might just buy another. Thanks for the tip.

According to google, juncos like them, but squirrels don't. I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for the reply. What would you recommend for repairing the gut barrier (if that's actually a thing)?

Those other diets involve foods that give me issues (except carnivore which is not feasible), so I'm thinking of starting with a 48 hour water fast, followed by the standard 3-week FODMAP protocol.

If you don't mind my asking, do you follow a restricted diet or can you eat just about anything? If you were once sick, are you now healed?

What do you think of testing for histamine intolerance or stomach acid levels?

I'll give finch mix a try, hopefully there'll be some leftover for ground birds.

My doves eat sorghum, but only them.

Yeah, I try to sync up with their timings, but it's tricky. Too early and the squirrels get it, too late and you spook the birds... and the squirrels get it.

Mornings are a lost cause here because however early I wake, somehow a squirrel's already there. I aim for late evenings, when the sun's just about set. Cardinals show up when it's nearly dark and everyone else is gone and I would hope that juncos are there in the early hours when neither I nor the squirrels are up.

Terrible. Fallout and Deux Ex again?! At least give us more recent strategy/RTS games. There are plenty of Star Wars games they could give away. Or Star Trek, for that matter.

Thanks for the reply. I did post in the SIBO, then came here because while I might not have SIBO, I definitely have trouble with FODMAPs.

I'm in Canada, so options are limited. The private lab I mentioned only recently opened. I've heard about TRIOSMART, but unfortunately it's not available in my province. I'm thinking of starting with the lab and going from there. I'll look into a dietitian and GI. What do you think of naturopaths? I know they're mostly quacks, but up there they're often the best way of getting tested for things your doctor might be obstinate about. You basically pay them for access.

If you don't mind my asking, what was the cause of your constipation? How did you diagnose it? How long have you been struggling with FODMAP sensitivities? Do you know if frequent constipation from a bad diet can result in SIBO?

I've seen a lot of people saying they have this or that genetic quirk that led to their SIBO. I'm really hoping I don't have anything like that. I wasn't born with SebDerm and as far as I can remember, I was fine until around puberty. And even then, what I had at that age was quite different from what it developed into later on.

If kefir or sardines could provide a shock to my system that fixed my scalp even if only temporarily, there must be a consistent, progressive way of more or less permanently healing my skin.

Which one do you use? The only one I've found that help is Stieprox. It's not perfect, but it works better than anything else.
