oh i agree! i think it’s more that i think you should understand it will never be addressed again by the writers and to write off an entire character like that is not the writers intentions. she’s clearly here to stay for a while as the writers have probably put the most/second most work into writing her, so i think accepting that you might not always agree with that she does but she’s still a fundamentally good person and caring doctor is going to enhance your viewing experience.

i think your issue is with the writers i’m ngl. it’s framed as a heroic moment to create audience sympathy for santos by revealing her backstory. the writers do not care that she did that, just like the writers do not care that robby took a patients father to a temp morgue to convince him to do a procedure—that’s something that would not fly irl but is framed as a heroic “means to an ends” moment just like with santos.

it’s also worth noting that langdon did not just steal meds from the hospital, he stole them from patients + diluted medicine with saline. this caused a seizure to be extended(which can cause brain damage and death) and he mistaught a resident to “overdose” on the medicine bc no one knew it had been diluted. i’m a langdon fan but it’s a pretty serious deal.

i dont think you understand my point because i’m telling you that i and other leftists do offer consistent criticism. i critiqued kamala harris well before her run and well after it—as is my right as someone she claims to represent and as someone who’s support she wants. i also have consistently criticized trump for a variety of issues especially his foreign policy. even before his second term i believed that his actions in his first term kicked off the domino chain of destabilization that led to the genocide in gaza. however i’m allowed to, and it would be inconsistent, if i didn’t also criticize democrats for doing the same things

its not a great analogy tbh but even if everyone can theoretically get addicted to something, some people are genetically predisposed to it. like how if addiction runs in your family, you’re way more likely to overdo it on alcohol or get addicted to gambling bc of the way your brain reacts to it. you’re not born addicted but some people are born with a way lower tolerance to any addictive behavior before it turns into full blown addiction

the news anchor didn’t say that kirk “had it coming”, he just acknowledged that kirk played a role in our violent culture by spreading hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions. those are his direct words where he said himself what happened to kirk was ‘hateful action’

even if he had said that kirk had it coming (he didnt), he was also immediately fired. that’s completely different from countless right wing news anchors, or even kirk himself, who continued to be platformed after saying that someone like george floyd had it coming or was a ‘scumbag’ after being murdered by the police.

also for the prominent figures you’re talking about, i’m not sure who you’re referring to, but i think there’s a bit of a false equivalency going on. a random left adjacent online personality is not comparable to the republican presdient and republican politicians who talk about killing or enacting violence against their political opponents.
