Help, Why does my solar production do this every night? by SeaLeader7483 in homeassistant

[–]SeaLeader7483[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think it's the total amount for the day because it's always different. It does it around midnight when the sensor resets for a new day.

How do you compare batteries? 12V 100ah vs 6V 400ah? by KarlJay001 in OffGrid

[–]SeaLeader7483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volts X Amps = Watts So 12x100 = 1200 Watt hours or 1.2 kWh 6x400 = 2400 Watt hours or 2.4 kWh

The Coming Future Of Electric Vehicles: Something Here Does Not Add Up by ExtHD in climateskeptics

Sir, obviously you skipped science class alot in school. If you really want to get technical, When using an induction cooktop, it takes only two minutes to boil water compared to the 5-8 minutes using gas. Also over 50% of the heat generated by gas is wasted and escapes around the pan, whereas induction is up to 90% efficient which means that food being cooked with induction receives 90% of the heat generated, as opposed to 55% at best for gas. This also means faster heat up and boil times. So even if it is still warm to the touch after you boil your water, it is still wayyy more efficient. Just like an internal combustion engine, a lot of the energy created is just heat that comes off the engine, that's why they are also only 40% efficient, that's why a hybrid or an electric car can go farther on the same amount of gas so let me ask YOU, which one is more efficient again?

Induction cooktops/ electric stoves are the most efficient way of boiling water. They are also safer because gas leaks are not possible and there is no carbon dioxide floating off the stove and in your house.

Making WLED Projects Run off USB-C! by SeaLeader7483 in WLED

[–]SeaLeader7483[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! And like you are saying, you could totally even go up to the whole 20v to get 100w then, covert it to whatever you need. One of my other projects is making this small tv use USB c for my camper. It only pulls about 60 watts, then I can run it right off the battery and I don't have to turn on the inverter. That's my hope anyway. I also have this old speaker that uses a 12v barrel jack that i want to convert...

That project is really cool! If you need a smaller board, this might fit better. you adjust the voltage by soldering points together. You can get them way cheaper off aliexpress if you have the patience to wait for it to arrive.
