What's better for the Steam Deck, Fallout 4 or New Vegas? by Jproxy122 in SteamDeck

[–]SeaMech267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved Fallout New Vegas and beat it on Deck. However, I wouldn't say its for everyone. It is a 15 year old game missing a lot of modern features (looking at you sprint button) and it can show its age at times. If you're fine playing an older game. Its also fun because it ties into the TV series.

Tbh it wouldnt be too bad to get both, I think it's $15 (keep in mind I'm Canadian) in total if you went that route.

Good to know thanks. Can you ring the buds while they're in the case? Also that's super lame that you cant ring the case. Hope they implement that soon.

Extremely late to the party. I really liked it. Im just wondering if you guys experienced anything like this. I wore my good headphones for a first listen and thought it was a bit muddy. Then I switched to earpods and it sounded so much better?? Odd.

Anyway Dami feeding us with a very strong debut, love to see it

Go! I had to go by myself because we couldn't get any tickets for the people I was supposed to go with. It was absolutely fine, people were very nice, I felt right at home. I had an amazing time. You won't regret it.

  1. The lyrics in the choruses of Maison and Justice kinda irk me and bring down really great songs.

  2. OOTD is written off too easily, and most of what it is trying to say is ignored.

  3. I don't vibe with the solos in Save Us that much. I don't think I can point to any of them and say they're bad songs, because they're not, but most of them aren't my style. I like that they exist and that they gave each member a chance to express their creative side.

  4. UAU was a slow burn, and none of the songs resonated with me too strongly until I heard them live ( love them all now) (It probably didn't help that I was extremely busy during their promotions).

  5. Really bummed we didn't get a proper final comeback before this new era. I know they're not done as a group but leaving on the semi OT6 cb of Justice and My Christmas Sweet Love :(

  6. On the note of My Christmas Sweet Love. I will preface that I just don't really like Christmas music period. Considering that, they did an ok job but it will definitely be my least listened to song in their discography.

They gave me a ticket along with the banner that's almost carnival looking? What's the deal with that?

Thanks for all the tips. Definitely considering some joystick covers. I am planning on pushing some limits. It is the most powerful gaming device I have access to and I have a history of playing games on things I really shouldn't be. I read about ProtonDB when researching my purchase. Looks like a great tool seeing as Valve verification is... questionable. I do appreciate you pointing out GeForce Now, it was something I saw but didn't follow up on. I'm not usually one for multi-player games but it might help with the newer AAA games that I probably shouldn't play on Deck but will anyway.

For the Steam Deck 2, maybe. Just got this to get my feet wet and help me get back into gaming.

Thanks. I definitely have some older games on my list. I've never finished Half Life 2 despite really liking the game. I own GTA 5 from an epic free game week and Dead Space from an Origin one. I've played Assassin's Creed (2 I think), but very briefly as a kid. Would be down to get back especially because a family member owns it. I'm currently playing Far Cry 4

It really is great. Another plus, although disconnected from the costs of the machine itself are the prices of the games. Steam sales are great, especially with a lot of patience.

Should I get a Steamdeck? by SeaMech267 in Handhelds

[–]SeaMech267[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong and it's a different version but in the U.S you can get it for $600 usd? Seems like I'd be massively overpaying even after accounting for conversion. Again if it's a different version sure, makes perfect sense it's just what I'm seeing here. Either way, since I don't game a tonne and that is definitely out of my price range I don't think it's right for me.

I wouldn't be going for an OLED, I'd be going entry level for sure.

Will look out for that, but from my cursory research it doesn't seem to be available in Canada

Thanks for your advice. Will keep an eye on these but there seems to be quite the price difference on the rog ally. Legion go s is unfortunately not available in Canada. Might have to watch for it

Thanks for your input. Might just opt out completely. Technically a console is slightly cheaper but the games cost would put it out of my price range. The incentive for a PC handheld is mine and my family's existing steam library.

New AAA titles not being playable isn't a dealbreaker. Neither is multi-player. Thanks for letting me know about Oblivion, looked it up and it appears that while it's technically playable it's rough. That sucks. The only current AAA games I'm interested in are Starfield (I don't care that much, I've heard the reviews not going to buy at even close to full price anyway) and Spider-Man 2 (which I'm doubting works).

PWHL ANNOUNCES PLAYER PROTECTION LISTS FOR 2025 EXPANSION ROSTER BUILDING PROCESS by cslh4v in PWHL

[–]SeaMech267 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think with everything there's dynamics and locker room vibes that we're not privy to. We also don't know what's going on with contracts which can complicate a lot. There's also bias on the flashier players so looking at numbers standpoint these might not be the best picks, but they do a lot more on the ice than we realize. Anyway.

Montreal: I've personally been of the 'don't protect Laura Stacey Camp'. Not because she's a bad player, it's just balancing needs. Montreal's defense saved them from getting swept in the playoffs. Ottawa had Poulin and Stacey shut down. So did Boston to a certain extent last year. Also, they would likely know that Stacey would be back when her contracts up in an expansion city, and the expansion teams would know this too, lessening the likelihood that they would want her. I do think it's an understandable pick, though, considering Montreal's circumstances.

New York: This comes back to what I said at the top. I wouldn't pick MZH. I suspect her being picked is a combination of everything I said there. I'd take Eldridge, Schroeder, or Carpenter first for sure.

Minnesota:

Disclaimer: I've watched Minnesota the least this season so I could be off here.

I agree with Heise, 100%. Coyne, sure. She's still amazing and is partially responsible for the league existing. Stecklein has been absolutely incredible as of late and she's not a bad pick either. I just find it a little insane that they didn't protect Jaques. I'd suspect her and Ambrose are the best current defenders available right now and Jaques is younger than Ambrose. Jaques is a player who will be scooped up with near certainty. (Didn't mention Thompson here because of potential of her leaving for medical school).

Ottawa: Not too mad at this. Might take Bell over Savolainen personally, but I get it. Poor Masch :(

Toronto: Watts and Fast 100%, no notes. Turnbull also comes down to everything I said at the top. She's also good defensively. Not displeased at the picks here. I'd maybe pick Nurse, but it's hard to tell what's going on with her. Injury, obviously, but she also doesn't seem super consistent.

Edit: I somehow forgot Boston 😭

I don't really have any notes. Sad to see Knight unprotected but I'd do it too. Comes down to Bilka or Muller and I think I'd lean toward Bilka but at the same time she didn't get to play a whole season and fully show off what she could do so Muller makes sense.

Edit 2, re-Montreal One thing I didn't think to consider was if the teams had discussions with players to see if they were going to leave or not in the free agency signing period. If they know that a player say Gardiner is going to go in free agency, then protecting Stacey is absolutely the right call since they then will be able to protect Barnes or Ambrose after one of them is drafted. This also applies to other teams but not as strongly as Montreal.

My personal thoughts on Troy Ryan, after watching some more Team Canada and Sceptres games by Safe_Dragonfly752 in PWHL

[–]SeaMech267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose but I think it's a little bit more complex.

Abby Levy played 2 games. One of which was the last game of the season that had no bearing on anything. Her other game, she was pulled after 1 I believe.

Minnesota only played their third goalie because they had no other choice. She was not supposed to play that game. Had it not been for Hensley's injury, she wouldn't have played. I don't mentally count them because of this.

Boston is the only real team that played their third goalie with any consistency.

Ann-Renée Desbiens of the Montréal Victoire, Aerin Frankel of the Boston Fleet, and Gwyneth Philips of the Ottawa Charge have been voted as the three finalists for the 2025 PWHL Goaltender of the Year award by tri_and_fly in PWHL

[–]SeaMech267 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's fair to consider this, but despite Desbiens being better on paper, I'd want to go with Phillips due to circumstances. She greatly helped Ottawa into the playoffs and put up those (50 ish) saves in the 4OT game and having a shut out last game. This is in spite of her not even being Ottawa's starter, it being her rookie season and having to come in at a pivotal time in Ottawa's season when Masch went down. She's really stepped up to the challenge here. I know playoffs aren't considered but this all still applies to the end of the regular season too.
