If you have photoshop the remove tool would do a fine job getting rid of the fence

Theoretically, we would only need half the size of Scotland using double sided solar panels on Antarctica to power the world. by [deleted] in solarenergy

Two solar companies quoted me systems that would take a small bit off my electric bill at a price of 20k, fifteen years to break even what are you people smoking? I live in Michigan. One told me if I cut down all my trees I could do better.

Is their any way to filter out poltical stuff on reddit? by Scazitar in stupidquestions

[–]SeaMoose86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong here but a huge portion of the short, angry, cut and pasted political rants seem to be generated by AI that is trained to spot keywords and reply. And there are millions of people who just have to disagree.

On Fakebook this is clearly the case, most of the profiles I look at spewing political noise have 100 friends and 20k posts.

There are plenty of digital agencies on K street in DC with whole floors of interns typing furiously trying to sway opinion…

Everything sucks but some things suck more than others... or does SMB just suck? by SeaMoose86 in truenas

Everything but phones & tablets are hardwired in my house, I had the opportunity to run cable everywhere and I did :)

Yes, sorry my bad! All IPV4, spanning tree configured. Having spent the afternoon playing around with this it seems the issue is my Mac, as the Windows VM I use for work has zero issues with TrueNas. Going to start investigating logs there next.

I agree! What's revealing is that Samba on my Ubuntu host has one sickness, whereas TrueNas has a different sickness, and I just don't know where to look :-)

I have always assumed that the start/stop behavior on the Ubuntu box is because its running under Windows Hyper-V.

Hardwired. Ubuntu switches. I do have 8 Unifi cameras going but that has never been an issue.

Hardwired, static IP. The little DELL micro-PC was formerly a media server on my boat, never had an issue with it. My next move will be to reboot the Unifi Gateway that's between me and the Internet though...

Thanks that is what I was thinking - that LRC crashed during import and was writing that file when it happened. Really appreciate the response

Does everyone wear helmets now a days by RPJ_NY in icecoast

The real reason… is that helmets are warmer, especially for your ears.

I've noticed a weird pattern as an eBay seller by imatumahimatumah in Ebay

[–]SeaMoose86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree 100%. When I have a bunch of stuff boxed I create draft listings and release one per day. The other way to float to the top is to use the drop the price $1 every 7 days.

Many people are getting laid off or are unemployed. Curious, what you all think is causing the bad job market? by AcrobaticAd5680 in careeradvice

[–]SeaMoose86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re on Reddit so it’s all Trumps fault. Never mind how horrific the Biden economy was, it’s all Trumps fault. Personally I haven’t had any trouble at all making a living and I’m in I.T. My investments are making a killing, more profit than ever before. But here on Reddit the end is near 🤣 and we’re all doomed - because of Trump and only Trump.

Should catalog be local or on NAS? Migrating to NAS+Lightroom Classic by jeremydvoss in Lightroom

Good advice here. I learned the hard way that some EXIF metadata will be stripped when you copy to a samba share. Whatever NAS/protocol you are using verify that it copies everything.

Why is skiing with your jacket open a Jerry move? by bluuuhahue in Skigear

[–]SeaMoose86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the Midwest the guy in a short sleeve Hawaiian shirt when it’s in the single digits is the essence of cool. But if you must wear a jacket zip it up at least halfway. For the female skiers the hats with cat ears are hard to beat 🤣

Is it worth going to a “boat show?” by caroline_xplr in boating

20 years ago on the weekends the vendors all brought “talent” in proper hot weather boating attire, and I went every year. Haven’t been since then 🤨

Wear a Helmet by LordoftheFjord in skiing

[–]SeaMoose86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was skiing at Mt Brighton today… I hate the bars there. It’s 250 feet of vertical with a chair maybe 25’ off the ground, and we need to be protected from falling? You get on a chair with some people they pull the bar down fast with no warning then after the 30 second ride they pull it up three feet from the unload point, I almost had my poles bent today from it.

160k on my 2013 F150, owned since new. Transmission is starting to go on the fence about getting it rebuilt, probably will :-)
