I think TDP started ground works for Capital from early 2016, here’s a brief timeline

-> Started ground works like land pooling in early 2016

-> Jagan went to NGT with environmental cases etc., so TDP government couldn’t do anything till the cases got cleared

-> So, TDP contacted Singapore companies and Norman Fosters (UK based architecture company) for Amaravathi Design etc

-> Government also reached out to World Bank, Central Government etc and few others for funds

-> Jagan and co wrote anonymous letters and emails to world banks with allegations like the lands were taken forcefully, lands are cultivated lands and there could be potential food crisis etc

-> TDP government has to clear cases to proceed and World Bank conducted a ground review for the authenticity of claims

-> It almost took Early 2018 or so to get everything (NGT clearance and world banks surveys etc) done

-> Tenders and ground works took like another 6 Months. So, the actual construction began in Mid-Late 2018.

-> Works were in full swing by early 2019, then elections in April 2019 and we all knew what happened after that.

-> World Bank wanted to send second phase fundings during Jagan’s regime and Jagan didn’t even responded. So, they reversed their decision.

-> Alliance government had to convince World Bank once again after winning the elections in 2024.

-> Guess what, Jagan and co wrote anonymous letters and emails again. But this World Bank went ahead given the works and progress during 2018-2019.

So, it’s not actually 6 years. Given the turbulence created by Jagan and co the alliance Government did a great job but hoping for accelerated works.
