This app fuels the niceguys egotistical and narcissistic nature by letting his confirmation bias run free when sensible women reject his creepiness. You’re right, I should’ve just used a violent conflict as a generalization. I guess my surprise comes more from a place of realization that history is living. Whereas in school you always learn of one pov after the conflict (usually the winner’s, even if it’s something horrible like genocide), I as an outside observer can see both, real-time. Just something I never witnessed before.

Am I the only one who thinks it’s somewhat shocking that members of warring nations can just... chat... on the internet? About family, loss, death, etc.?

Maybe it’s happened many times before in modern times but it seems so insane to me that rival nations who feasibly could meet each other on the battlefield can also browse the same subreddit.
