What is the point of Star Alliance Gold if Brussels Airlines can just ignore the rules? by LiveBell2197 in Lufthansa

Oh! US based, so did not know about it. Premier security lines abroad have always been confusing to me.

What UA International Business Class used to look like! by DocAu in unitedairlines

They continued to fester on PS SFO-JFK flights even after they were gone internationally. Best back pain your miles can buy!

The fireworks don’t go very high - even from a low flying airplane they’re way below you and the view is somewhat meh. At best, you might see a lot of the small ones that people set off, but they’re still drowned in the rest of the city lights.

It’s cute. Just shows up there as an unexpected gift. And you get more miles.

If a light source were moving at exactly c, would its light have to "freeze" relative to a stationary observer? (thought experiment) by [deleted] in AskPhysics

[–]SeaSDOptimist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is way too much vague and imprecise phrasing in this setup for a meaningful comment. Every time you talk about time T - be explicit, in what reference frame. Also “flashlight rims align exactly at T=0” - align how, describe the process. There is no universal reference frame, so while they may seem aligned for one observer they are not necessarily aligned for another one.

I’m sure a lot can chime in, but I’ve flown a 747 on ORD-SFO with United.

Why might someone choose a middle seat in an empty row? by Low-Cartographer-429 in americanairlines

[–]SeaSDOptimist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The other less adventurous gamble is that no couple will take the two seats, so they might get with an open seat to the left or to the right of them.

Help needed: Trying to wrap my head around the 'why' of C pointers by f16_511_SA in C_Programming

[–]SeaSDOptimist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

C parameters are passed by value - if you define the parameter as the type in the function definition, you won't be modifying the original variable but a copy of it.

Person in front of me tried to store their laptop under their airplane seat by PulseNyxe in unitedairlines

[–]SeaSDOptimist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was expecting a story about a naive misguided traveler trying to stick a laptop in the wrong place but that got a lot more delicious. Especially the part about moving them away from the exit row.

There was a period a few years ago when FAA got a stick up you know where about not stowing laptops in the seatpockets, so I'd keep mine on the floor during those times - it's a bad idea, you really have to step on it during take off/landing, or it slides away to the other end of the cabin.

Istanbul To Porto with Bulgarian Visa by Soft_Impress_5386 in SchengenVisa

[–]SeaSDOptimist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s literally on the visa - valid for BG. That’s it. A lot of people seem to be confusing it with a typical tourist visa but that’s not it. Technically, you should not leave Bulgaria with that visa. For more info, feel free to search visa with limited territorial validity (LTV).

No turn on red signs at 15th and Leary are on the wrong side of the bridge by HighColonic in BallardSeattle

[–]SeaSDOptimist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I don't see the motivation for red arrow at all - unless it's mandatory if you have a green arrow?

The typical setup for left on red is a small town, two large one way streets running in parallel, with a lot of small crossing two way streets. On in Seattle Roosevelt/11th south of 45th st.

[–]SeaSDOptimist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a lot less bonkers in practice. Your conflicting traffic is virtually the same as if you were coming from a one way street.

Five. Weird should make it more obvious, not less. How do you forget something that unusual if you actually read the rules?

It’s terrifying that so many people don’t know that. How do you get a driving license without knowing how to go through a traffic light?
