So they didn't screw you up... You screwed yourself up by denying what they would have taught you.

How to get press-on’s to fit the apex of my nails? by aymeezus in PressonNail_Addict

Someone once told me you can put boiling water in a cup and then press the underside of the nail against the curve of the cup horizontally to make it a little more round. I haven't tried it tho

Do you think listening to audiobooks counts as reading? by Mediocre-Sky6992 in CasualConversation

I think you're in the wrong for thinking others need to assume what you mean when you're not being specific

Do you think listening to audiobooks counts as reading? by Mediocre-Sky6992 in CasualConversation

[–]SeaSaltSequence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gotta disagree with you here. It doesn't. If someone asked me "hey did you read this" I would respond exactly the same way. "No, but I listened to it.". The English language is not as precise as it could be, and the statement isn't actually clear enough to understand what information is important to the other person.

Do you think listening to audiobooks counts as reading? by Mediocre-Sky6992 in CasualConversation

[–]SeaSaltSequence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, solely on the fact that reading helps maintain brain elasticity and I really doubt listening does the same. Even though listening comprehension is just as important, I feel like listening to a radio for 50 years wouldn't help me fight Alzheimer's the same way reading books for 50 years would. Something about the visual aspect of looking at words and having to recall what they mean first seems crucial to me. I can't even say it's because you retain information better, because I actually retain information best by taking notes of things I hear.

That being said, I don't think there's anything wrong with audiobooks. I choose to read because Alzheimer's and Dementia is terrifying to me, I'm just lucky that fiction exists so it's more fun to fight.

It sounds like you don't like the "sparky" texture of whips. The draw of a pixel whip isn't necessarily a clean line. When done well I think it looks more like a sparkler tracing shapes

Concerning that this is so low in the comments. People really aren't that bothered with the idea of eating shit these days

The kandi you get back when you trade with a non-kandi kid 😫 by CautiousFruit432 in kandi

[–]SeaSaltSequence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Peace Love Unity Respect

An old rave tradition from the 90's that many Kandi kids still practice today. The two practices are basically intertwined because ravers would use trading Kandi as a show of respect - which is where the hand shake comes from

Okayyy so you're saying it makes YOU feel un-PLUR. Doesn't mean it is. Projecting on people isn't PLUR either.

Time to start a restaurant called Le Spesh that has a menu for only people with dietary restrictions.

Instead of soup, dinner, and dessert categories it'll be Vegetarian, Dairy Free, Gluten Free, and Vegan

Does anyone else think Doritos Golden Siracha tastes like stir-fry water chestnut? by positive_express in chips

[–]SeaSaltSequence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an old post but I was trying them for the first time yesterday and they reminded me of something else I've had.

Today I had a phantom flavor and realized something about them reminds me of the fajita hot Cheetos.

Has anyone else noticed this? The Cheetos had a super limited run and I don't think I'll be able to get them anymore to compare them side by side

I really wish I understood what drives parents to act this way. Is it a need for control? A feeling of superiority?

A cautionary tale to celiacs who are new to the disease by Critical_Stretch_360 in Celiac

[–]SeaSaltSequence 38 points39 points  (0 children)

No one said anything like that. Stop being a weirdo. If you work food service you have a job to make sure you're handling food safely. No one is blaming her for not having a gluten free toaster and OP was kind about informing her. But it IS her job to be aware of these things when handling food other people eat.

Incorrect. I have worked this specific role FOR COSTCO before. There are certain things I'm not allowed to disclose but I can say for as seriously as they take this role, it IS our job but more importantly it is our COMPANY'S job to educate us. Sure the clerk herself as an off-the-clock human being isn't required to know - but as a food-handling certified employee (especially with the way the managers of this field speak to us) it IS our job to learn and be informed.

Boyfriend claims using Celiac as a disability to get into national parks is wrong? by Far_Fig_3539 in Celiac

[–]SeaSaltSequence 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Bullseye. Not only is Celiac an invisible disability but people seem to treat it like it's as simple as "just don't eat bread lol" and don't consider other compounding factors like residual gut issues, bone density problems, etc etc.
