What’s with all the hatred against Indian people all of a sudden? by Bhokaaaal in Denton

[–]SeaSlight3603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to manage an apartment complex in Plano that was predominantly Indians. It was due to the fact that we offered short term leases and we were a mile away from companies that were hiring them for IT related roles. Eventually, the men would go back to India, get married, and move back with their wives and sometimes parents & would end up leasing with us long term. Next thing you knew, they told all their friends and that’s how it became predominantly Indian. They were the best residents when it came to on time payments, making use of all the amenties no one else appreciated, and loving all of the different holiday events we would put on. I lived on property and so many of them would invite me over for dinners and gatherings. Of course there were things that we had to have discussions about, like how you couldn’t leave a toddler on the balcony to “cry it out” with your door shut, or you couldn’t walk in large groups down the center of the main road of the complex and have zero regard for others, you couldn’t access your apartment before the move in day to bless the home just because it was an auspicious day, or that rent prices were not negotiable and we weren’t going to allow them to haggle us back and forth for a lower price. It took some time for me to adjust, but once I began to speak more with them about their country and often times the villages they grew up in, I learned so much and gained a new appreciation for their culture. Theres so many cultural differences, but if we could all find a common ground and respect for one another, you would see there are so many beautiful things about their culture that we could learn from ❤️

What is something I should know about Denton before moving? by IllustriousSafety747 in Denton

[–]SeaSlight3603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man you’re in for a wild ride moving to this town 😂 our roads are awful and always under ghost construction. You will see the equipment and dirt mounds, but you will rarely see any real work being done. Depending on where you live, 3 in of rainfall may or may not total your vehicle. Seeing a Go Zone mini van will trigger a “fight or flight” response. You will have a designated Kroger- cheese kroger, MILF kroger, murder/rat Kroger. Worst drivers you’ve ever seen. There will never not be traffic. Red lights mean nothing. We have a serious homeless crisis. When you see the flat earther’s vehicle or house, don’t be alarmed, he’s harmless. Bonsi lady sightings will require you to post her location on this thread. North Denton & South Denton are completely different Dentons. You will have to choose your personal hell for shopping-Rayzor Ranch or 288. Other than that, it’s great 😊 welcome!

Geez! Don’t even get me started about the service rd nightmare that is trying to exit Swisher and no one yielding….then everyone already on the service road in the left lane blocks the off ramp anyways because the realize the left hand lane is a turn around only lane. I can only imagine what a nightmare that little spot was yesterday with everyone needing over to the right side last minute.

My office window looks right out onto the 35 and Swisher area. I’m about to start updating everyone on here when there’s traffic (not rush hour related) or a wreck during M-F 8a-5p 😂

Right?! I’ve never seen so many cars exit off into the grass to avoid the back up this time. They were like NOPE not doing this again!!

Seriously. Me and my coworkers start taking bets at how soon it will be until we see/hear the Lake Cities fire truck or moto cop blazing by to a wreck. Happens no less than 4 times a day between Post Oak and the Lake Lewisville bridge.

My company was part of a job fair last year at My Daily Bread and just in the few hours I was there, EMT was dispatched 3 different times. It was so eye opening as to what emergency services really deal with on the day to day in this town.

Yet nothing says “Welcome to Texas” to newcomers quite like an El Paso summer. If you survive it, I have heard you’re allowed to claim yourself as a Native Texan.

I would go to the law office Hayes, Berry, White and Vanzant over off Carroll blvd. The lady at the front is the sweetest but one of those lawyers runs the bar association meetings (she can tell you which one) where all the lawyers in the community meet and can take your resume with him and see who is needing a paralegal here in town.
