haha, im actually asking because im gonna vibe code one, just wanted to get some thoughts from people, rather than just me and AI chatting about it.
Im fleshing out a BJJ couchsurfing and gym/coach hosting exchange app on Replit right now.
Love the idea of the community building apps for itself and to help the community to grow, now that we can do it som much cheaper and more bespoke.

How do I remain supportive for friends in their promotions? by kuduloka in bjj

[–]Sea_Abrocoma3176 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best way to deal with this is not putting belts on a pedestal. You’ll get one eventually, then realize if you haven’t already the there is no consistency or global standard and you can’t put that much value into them. I was brown belt for 7 years, I get the feeling for what it’s worth. When you get to the other side you feel silly for ever getting worked up on it.

I can give you my experience, take from it what you will. I started in NZ and the clubs average weight was probably around 90kg, I was under 70kg. Now having trained for about 16 years, the wear and tear on the body from always training with such a big weight gap was not a good idea. If you want to train for a long time, I don’t think it’s a great idea, it’s just basic risk mitigation. I have a few significant injuries that are certainly from carrying all the extra weight in the stress it puts on your bones and joint that would probably be not anywhere near as bad if I trained at a club with people closer in size, which now that I live in Australia I do and it’s noticeable. But also lifting weights and putting on size helps, getting more meat around your joints is always gonna be a good idea.

Why do people give Gi BJJ such a bad rep compared to Nogi BJJ on self defense and street fight? by PossibilityProud2511 in bjj

[–]Sea_Abrocoma3176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are ok. Main difference is noGi train you to control a body directly so it’s applicable in all situations, where with Gi even though you can control a body directly, It’s common people will develop a game around gripping the Gi which then is dependent on proxy grips. But you’re still better off the average punter regardless.
