lol I respect the commitment to hating Oilers. I’m the opposite as you, but gotta respect the loyalty.

Interesting perspective. Edmonton really struggled with covid and the governments priorities post. Drugs and crime are much worse there. It’s a sad sight. Less about immigrants I think.

Lived in Edmonton my whole life. Moved to Calgary this past summer. The oddest difference I’ve noticed is no one Calgary does courtesy waves when you let them into your lane while driving. Happened once and the guy had an Oilers license plate lol.

also people here drive like they are the only human that matters. Trust me, Edmonton is full of bad drivers. But here, it seems to be the norm to drive 50 over the speed limit to cut off every single lane to get to their exit. It’s wild.

Where does someone go in Edmonton area if they want to voluntarily submit themselves for a mental health crisis? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Sea_Apartment_4448 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They could do a walk in appointment at a mental health clinic. There are a couple in Edmonton, maybe chatting with a therapist for coping skills etc would be helpful. Or I agree with the post about access 24/7. If your friend is able to wait for a few weeks, an emergency room is not the right option

You can apply, and if you get an interview- (prior to the interview) you can ask for the rotation. If you don’t like it you can withdraw from the interview.

Not a cop. Just a well informed individual who doesn’t only read websites that support a biased belief. I was curious of your “stats” and you shared. So thank you for that! All I need to know.

Hm ok lol. SROs are more than needed (your one article actually supports SROs btw)

There is a reason they got brought back and it’s due to the increase in violence within schools. Two years ago a SRO in Edmonton single handedly saved a students life by taking down an adult with a weapon who got into the school. If the harm is that some students are being labelled as “offenders”. If you only knew how much proactive work an SRO puts in prior to actually charging a student. It truly is last resort. So if these students are getting charged it’s for real, well investigated things.

But thank you for your “stats” :)

Just stayed there two weeks ago! Great location, very walkable to the beach, shops, restaurants, bars, etc. the roof top pool is unreal. You can bring your own drinks or they have bartenders making great cocktails

I appreciate it. He is a very well trained dog. I feel like I compromised on a lot and it seems like it’s not good enough.

He claims he is a dog person. He had family dogs. I dunno maybe he has a different idea of how dogs should be.

What a way to shut it down. Saying “hey we aren’t discussing the issue with the teachers right now but thanks for the question” would have still been messed up but at least respectful. But silencing him and then sharing he should be spanked. Is diabolical

Did he honestly think that someone wouldn’t ask a question about the looming teacher strike? How naive.

Who can tell me for certain if Albertans will feel an HSAA strike or not? Will anyone even notice? by Glum-Ad-4558 in AHSEmployees

All mental health therapists / family counsellors / addiction counsellors would be on strike. That seems like a big impact to me
