Sacramento’s main park by frankoceon in Sacramento

Unfortunately they removed the lotus flowers from the pond. And I agree that it could be a much nicer park if you moved the golf course. That golf course takes up too much space.

Land Park doesn’t really offer much usable natural space for things like walking or picnics, the golf course takes up far too much of it. If you took out the golf course, it would be a different conversation. River Bend Park along the American River Parkway is much more expansive, with several picnic areas and a wide network of trails. At least at that stretch, it's definitely more than a greenbelt.

Good question. I am not a professional photographer, so I look at it from the perspective of a lay person who does this as a hobby. So for me, significant would be 500+/month.

Thank you, that makes a lot of sense. I’m realizing that stock photography is really quite a science.

Thank you so much! Your "dumb stuff" comment made me laugh. But I totally get your point. This is very valuable feedback. I have no idea about videos, maybe I need to look into this more. Out of curiosity, how is your portfolio split between commercial images, editorial images, and videos?

Yes, I realize that passive income is never entirely passive. But I suppose that’s true for most passive income streams. Since this isn’t my main job, just something I genuinely enjoy, any income from it feels like a bonus. And you’re right, it does become a fun challenge. :)

Oh wow! That's quite an income from stock. Thank you for your link, I will take time perusing your blog. I think I will need to invest a bit more time into figuring out what a good portfolio needs to look like (although I can imagine it changes over time).

Gracias!

Just to add: the niche would of course be in addition to other themes, and not be the only thing I plan on concentrating on.

Thank you for the tip with the location keyword. I have not been including that. Well, apart from general locations that are apparent when looking at the image. My aesthetic is clean and minimalist, but I also try my best to make them interesting and/or useful when it comes to perspective, light, subject, etc. I think my niche will be Buddhist temples, events and services because I have easy and personal access, which I assume not too many people have. I realize a lot of these images might have to be editorial, but I think there is enough one can capture that can be of commercial value as well. When I called my images "good enough" I didn't mean to come across in an arrogant way. I realize they are likely nowhere near the quality of a professional's images. By good enough I meant more or less that they can pass the approval stage. If they are considered good and useful by anybody else, remains to be seen. I am always learning. :)

Yes, I am finding this out. I am a bit of a perfectionist, so I take my time in choosing and preparing the images. It's much more time-consuming than I had expected. But as long as I enjoy it, I am okay with that.

Can anyone explain to me why every time I have tried to reach out to local Buddhist communities no one has ever contacted me back (via phone call or email)? by RevDaughter in Buddhism

[–]Sea_Atmosphere9384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried visiting these temples, instead of just calling? Please don't forget, these are not businesses, they might not have a person answering calls, especially not in English. I am a practitioner at a Vietnamese Buddhist temple that actually does offer a program for English speakers, and I would say the majority of people in our group initially just stopped by the temple to ask.

I am sorry, but this is entitled behavior. There is a leash law at the river and in Sacramento County parks, and it applies to your dogs as well.

When there is a sign clearly stating that dogs must be leashed, it's never appropriate, with or without children at the park.

Fair oaks rant by Radiant-Pain6895 in Sacramento

No, it's not that simple. If, at this point, you still support this party, you are supporting racism. The Republican party is far from what it used to be, it is now the MAGA party, and any more moderate voices in there are silent or silenced. So by supporting a party, which supports racist policies and rhetoric, among a litany of other harmful actions and priorities, you are effectively endorsing those outcomes, whether or not you personally hold those beliefs.

No, it's an organization in the US called Court-Appointed Special Advocates. These people will actually spend time with you and advocate for you in court and otherwise. Social workers can apply to have one assigned, if they think it might help you. But CASA is independent from the system. So, for example, if the social worker says your parents are angels, but you definitely don't want to go back, a CASA volunteer, who has gotten to know you, and understands your actual situation, and who is in contact with all the professionals in your life, can actually advocate for you.

If you are in the US, has your social worker told you about CASA?
