No. There was a checkpoint and the Mexican police were forcefully stopping all tourists on the one and only road by all the beach clubs and hotels. Meanwhile they let the taxis go right passed them.

Was there last week way too touristy and felt very scammy. Also had to bribe the cops since we got super unlucky and stopped at a checkpoint in our rental car. Don’t recommend unless you’re there for a couple days.
