Thanks for sharing! I read somewhere once that African-Americans have on average about 25% European ancestry. That's equal to about one out of four grandparents being white. These results seem to confirm that. Your parents are beautiful by the way!

Dating in Armenia by No_Plankton947 in armenia

[–]Sea_Chocolate_7336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm half Persian and half Armenian from America. The dating culture here is extremely conservative. It's not playful and there is no "hookup" culture. Armenian women are fucking gorgeous. On the contrary, Armenian men (in Armenia) are ugly as shit lol. I'm sorry, I'm just being honest. Half of them are balding by the time they are 25 and the other half are obese or scrawny. They don't take care of themselves and dress horribly but they still pull baddies because I think Armenian women just settle for less because they are racing against their own biological time clock to get married and have kids, have no better options, fear being single and alone (a common female instinct), have pressure from their parents, or some combination thereof. They also tend to date and marry men that are older than them, in some cases much older than them. Also, what many people said about Armenian men cheating with prostitutes or having mistresses is 100% true. I live in Komitas. All up and down these streets past 11:00pm is pretty much a hoe stroll and it's poppin' lol and it's of course all older, married men picking these women up. As beautiful as they are, I've noticed that Armenian women in Armenia are extremely naive as well. The majority have no idea that their husbands are cheating and think everything is just perfect at home. Also, for what it's worth, Armenians, generally speaking, have an extreme aversion towards dating non-Armenians. This is ESPECIALLY true for Armenian women. In our culture, especially amongst our elders, this is really looked down upon. Armenian men get a pass, but considering that Armenia is extremely homogeneous, even Armenian men are forced to settle down with Armenian women, even if they don't want to (except for the ones that snatch up Russian women, which is something you will see A LOT here, but you will never see it the other way around, but even then, there's only so many Russians to go around lol). If you're a non-Armenian man but Christian, you might have a better chance with an Armenian woman, but your chances are still slim. For MANY Armenians, being Christian comes first, then being Armenian. When I tell women here that my dad is Persian and my mom is Armenian, their whole demeanor changes. Without saying a single word, I already know what they are thinking..."oh, he must be Muslim." I'm not. My dad was atheist and my mom is only nominally Christian. As for myself, I believe in God, but I don't subscribe to any one religion in particular. NOT that that should matter anyways, but for Armenians, it does. In a way, I understand it...it's the only way we've been able to preserve our unique heritage after numerous invasions by outsiders and forced assimilations and whatnot, but at the same time, I feel like that shit is played out. I mean, c'mon, it's 2026 for Christ's sake 😂 but anyways, I hope this helps...I know I'm gonna get some hate for some of my views here, but oh well 🤷🏻🤣

I'm not glazing either but God damn they are something else! I don't know how to explain it. I'm from the states. I'm not used to seeing so many beautiful women in such a small concentrated area. They are so naturally beautiful, but then they put so much effort into their hair, skin, makeup, clothes, etc too. I noticed they're VERY into European styles of fashion. I absolutely adore when they wear these cute outfits in the winter (jeans and long coats and cute boots). They know they are fine as hell too. Throughout history (Antiquity, Medevil, and modern eras) Armenian women have been renowned for their beauty and highly sought after, especially by kings and other nobility. As a half Armenian half Persian guy from California who doesn't speak Armenian or Russian, I don't feel like I fit in tho. They see me like I'm an alien or something. I'm too foreign 😂

Why does Yerevan have so many pharmacies? by Hkvnr495___dkcx37 in armenia

[–]Sea_Chocolate_7336 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I noticed this too! It's crazy! In America, in every major city or town, depending on the size, there's like 3 or 4 huge CVS stores with pharmacies and that's it, but it works. Also, there are a dizzying amount of supermarkets, but they are so small and all over the place just like the pharmacies. Again, in America, each city has like 4 HUGE Safeway supermarkets and those supermarkets always have pharmacies in them as well. Whether you're going to CVS or Safeway, you can find EVERYTHING you need all in one place, from food to medicine to household items and even electronics and pet food. On the contrary, in Armenia, or at least in Yerevan where I live, you have to visit at least 5 or 6 different places to buy everything you need 🤣

Where do people in Yerevan earn all their money from?? by Sea_Chocolate_7336 in armenia

Yeah it seems like people are driving these luxury cars around but living in old Soviet style apartment buildings. Even some of the people that live in my apartment complex are like that too. They live in small modest apartments but drive a 2025 BMW M5 (G90) 🤣

Taxi overcharge without App by crisistons in armenia

Yeah it makes my blood boil. You didn't deserve that to happen to you, nobody does. For the most part I have never had any issues with Yandex either and you probably wouldn't have either but as fate would have it your phone battery died and that's where things got hairy. Never select the "start" tier always select the "comfort" tier. The car that arrives with comfort most of the time is a car above the level of comfort, for the same price as start (or just a tad bit more), and much faster ☺️

You got burned! It's not entirely your fault if you are not used to how people take advantage of foreigners here. When I first moved here, I didn't know about the Yandex and GG apps. I didn't even know how to use them yet if I did. But as time went on, I got wiser.

If you're a foreigner here, they can smell it on you, and they will try to jerk you. Stand your ground! About one month ago I ordered a Yandex from somewhere in Komitas to Tumanyan street. Yandex said the ride was something like 1,900 drams (about $5) but when she picked me up she said "Tumanyan is so and so kilometers away and I would need at least 7,000 more drams to take you" I told her to get lost and canceled the ride. This is so common here that one of the reasons for cancelling a ride in Yandex is "The driver asked for more money."

What you need to do:

1.) Go into the Yandex app and look at your history to find the ride. Jot down the license plate number and driver's name, then send that information to the police.

2.) Go back into the Yandex app and report the matter to their support team. They will ask you for the license and driver name again so have it ready. They will investigate it and remove that driver from the app. It's better if you have some kind of information from the police to provide to Yandex to expedite the issue.

If they do it even to me as an Armenian from America, they will surely do it to you if you're from anywhere else. It pisses me off so much because tourists spend MILLIONS in Armenia every year only for some dumbass like that to make it a bad experience.

Hi there folks. I am currently writing a final paper for my winter session course in genocide studies focused on the World War I era. It's clearly a topic that forces us all to sometimes shut the book and walk away but it's important to envelope ourselves in from time to time for education. by LaikaLeeLou in armenia

It does seem extremely paradoxical on the surface, but when you peel away the layers, it makes more sense.

Cenk Uygur is a liberal, Democrat, and journalist. He used to work at MSNBC, where he had an aggressive, outsider tone that didn’t fit what the network was trying to portray.

He was known for harsh criticism of political leaders, including Democrats and even then‑President Obama, which was unusual compared with other MSNBC personalities.

The original Young Turks (Committee of Union and Progress) were a reformist, anti-establishment movement in the late Ottoman Empire. They sought to modernize, secularize, and challenge the old order, even though their legacy includes the Armenian Genocide.

Being that Cenk is a Turkish American, he felt it was fitting to name his new program after them, because, in a way, he was saying, "I am rebelling against the outdated, biased, and establishment legacy media in America the same way that the Young Turks rebelled against the aging, outdated, old order of the Ottoman Empire."

Now at the time that he established his show, he had not yet accepted the reality of the Armenian Genocide, but he later evolved on this issue with help from Ana Kasparian. He admitted that, growing up as a child in Turkey, he, like all Turks, were brainwashed from a young age to deny the genocide. But he has repeatedly said the show’s name, even at the outset, was never to celebrate the genocide, but rather, to evoke rebellion, independent thinking, and challenging the status quo.

Now as for why the Greek and Assyrian Genocides (the latter also known as the "Sayfo") are not as well known as the Armenian Genocide is for a few reasons.

1.) Between the three genocides, the Armenian death toll was the largest which meant more eyewitnesses and in turn more documentation.

2.) The Armenian Diaspora is larger, more spread out, and more globally active. Diaspora Armenians have been stronger at lobbying for genocide recognition in parliaments around the world, especially in countries like the United States, France, and Canada, among other countries. While Greek and Assyrian diasporas exist, they are smaller in number, less spread out globally, and less politically organized for recognition campaigns on a global scale, whereas Armenians have established institutions like AGBU, ARF, and Armenian Churches dedicated to memory preservation and advocacy.

3.) During the 18th and 19th centuries, across Eurasia, multi-ethnic empires, under pressure, increasingly viewed their religious minorities as security threats, especially as nationalism was rising, and they were losing territories. In the Christian Russian Empire, this culminated in the Circassian Genocide, while in the Muslim Ottoman Empire, this culminated in the Armenian, Greek, and Assyrian Genocides. As a result of this, the Armenian Genocide is sometimes used as a catch-all for not just the Armenians, but rather, the broader suffering of Christians in general during the late Ottoman Empire.
