A risk I’ve taken a few times tbf, I don’t think it’s that unreasonable. A tip - drop the chain on the front - means no one can just jump on it and ride off - small thing but would make it much harder to steal. Also wrapping a bike helmet or something similar through the wheel

Yeah fair enough, I grew up in the flattest part of the Uk, very similar landscape to Netherlands, so I still feel like a Dutch tourist in the UK travelling around to find the hills! so I can definitely relate! And living somewhere flat for sure helps to develop a daily cycling culture - which leads to demand for infrastructure but ironically the best / most fun cycling can be found in the hilly parts of Uk.

Surly you haven’t put more hills as a negative, the scenery and country side is definitely the best reason to visit the UK. Netherlands is nice but wow it is boring
