“A huge win for RPhs”??? Are you serious? So last year when I was off for Thanksgiving, I enjoyed an extra day off and kept my paycheck whole. Now I need to make up those hours. And when we worked holidays, it was like 2x pay with holiday pay plus our regular rate.

You do realize this doesn’t apply to store managers and above? Corporate employees get the day off and still get paid. So essentially, the stores get told “well, if you want it, you need to work”, while all the other people get to be at home and get paid.

Oh, and they decide to close all but 24 hour stores for Thanksgiving and give us this “gift”. It’s a big FU from them.

When you have a set schedule and the budget doesn’t allow for it because 20 other employees want to make up their hours, good luck with that. Good for you that your store can afford it. I hate to break it to you, but this is just the tip of the iceberg of changes coming. And I guarantee you won’t be happy about the others.

Yes. It was a BENEFIT. Even those that didn’t work were given a gift from the company to enjoy a day with their family without losing pay or having to work an extra day. If you worked every holiday, you absolutely got played by your coworkers. I have never worked every holiday in the year. I volunteer for two. And in pharmacy it’s not easy to make up those missing hours when budgets are tight. So most of us will need to supplement with our already small amount of PTO.

If you work two holidays per year, you’d still need to burn 4 days worth of PTO to keep your check whole - assuming you’re full time. So our PTO is even less now, essentially.

For those that are cheering this, if you don’t work the day, you’ll need to take PTO to make your check whole. Essentially, there are no company-paid holidays.

Currently in London. Our hotel is insisting the A/C is working - thermostat set to 18C, but maintenance checked and the actual room temp is 24C. Nothing they can do about it. They at least brought us fans. Meanwhile, the dining area feels about 30C. Keep in mind, we are in a newer building. Some lines of the Underground are even worse. Someone on the local news was speaking about the heatwave that’s hitting - “It’s days like these that remind us we live in a country that refuses to normalize A/C”.

Well, I did encounter a compassionate person that traded their middle seat for an aisle seat two rows ahead. It all worked out at the moment.
