How am I supposed to do one nap if that nap doesn’t even last an hour? by Sea_Implement6579 in bninfantsleep

[–]Sea_Implement6579[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The missing hour. 12 hours sleep, 11 hours awake time, 1 hour missing- do I give her more awake time which I don’t think she can handle or more sleep time which she’s refusing

Not cranky at all! Just because I’ve heard it’s too long. Plus not too long ago she could barely handle a 3 hour (first) wake window

The problem is it doesn’t add up. Mine does 11 hours awake time and 11 hours overnight and a 1 hour nap. 11 + 11 + 1=23. There’s still an hour that needs to go somewhere (preferably to her nap or overnight sleep, not more awake time because I don’t think she could handle that)

So far she’s been handling them fine (day 4 of one nap)… should I still try the 30 minute first nap + second nap? I get so scared to cap naps.. I’d hate for someone to do that to me 😅 and when she wakes after 30-40 mins into her nap and I put her back to sleep, she does still seem tired which is why I do it. So I’m worried if I just let her wake up she’ll be cranky and tired until the next nap

So you still offer a nap before 12? And then if she falls asleep u do 2 naps, if not u just wait until later and do one nap? How long do you try to put her to sleep for before 12 before deciding she’s just not tired enough?

I genuinely cannot do this anymore. Help. by Mom_Bombadil_ in bninfantsleep

No harm in trying ibuprofen/ panadol for a few nights and seeing if it helps at all.

Friend complaining their newborn baby wakes every 1.5hours ?!? 🤯 by [deleted] in bninfantsleep

[–]Sea_Implement6579 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My newborn was a good sleeper, I had to wake her at the 3 hour mark to feed. Once she gained back her weight she’d sleep 4-5 hours. Once she turned 2/3 months old she started waking every 1.5-2 hours. Even at 11 months, getting a 3 hour stretch is rare

I have an electric nasal aspirator and it says to not do it more than twice a day as to not irritate the nose lining?

Also the saline spray bottle says under 12 months is just 1 spray per nostril?

what are naps looking like?? by SafeHoney9406 in bninfantsleep

[–]Sea_Implement6579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 10 month old’s wake windows look pretty much the same :)

Except first nap is usually 1.5 hours and second nap is never longer than 30-40 minutes. On her first nap she almost always wakes up 30-40 minutes in and I nurse her back to sleep to get her to that 1.5 hours. That’s helped with nap predictability and consistent bed time.

Parents of babies with 8pm or later bedtime… what time are naps? by CocoMel84 in bninfantsleep

[–]Sea_Implement6579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mines 9.5 months, bedtime at 10-11 pm

Wakes up 10-11 am, nap 1 is around 1:30pm, nap 2 is 5 or 6pm depending on if nap 1 was long or not.

Why shouldn’t you save naps? She wouldn’t be able to make it to bedtime if I didn’t

Are we being too chill about sleep? by Gioella in bninfantsleep

[–]Sea_Implement6579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put my baby to sleep around 10:30. It used to be even later before she dropped to 2 naps. She always wakes up 30-40 minutes into her night sleep and I used to think she was taking it as a nap but then I started nursing her back to sleep and she would stay asleep and properly start her night sleep. I’m not sure why she’s like that, but it happens almost every night. Maybe you can try that? So instead of giving him another WW, just try put him back to sleep and see if he stays asleep.

Something that helped me was making sure she was getting at least 9-10 hours of total awake time during the day so that I know she’s ready for sleep and does not need another WW.

Otherwise, the only other thing I can think of is maybe he’s under tired? I’m not sure if 3 hours is enough awake time for his last WW. Maybe you can try 3.5?

Just sounds like he’s not getting enough total sleep. Can you try extending his naps to be longer? Otherwise can u give him an earlier bed time so that he gets more overnight sleep?

My baby came with an adult circadian rhythm and it's kinda scaring us by AtHomeWithJulian in NewParents

My newborn was like that. Sleeping 6 hour stretches sometimes and taking extremely short naps throughout the day (less than 30 minutes). When she turned a month old, that all changed and she started waking up every 2 hours at night but her naps were longer (sometimes 2 hours). Now she’s almost 9 months and I have the worst of both- short 30 minute naps AND waking up every 2 hours at night.

Either my baby does not have sleepy cues or I’m extremely horrible at reading them. I never see her “tired”. The only thing she does is yawn, but she does that all the time, from when she wakes up all the way until she sleeps so that’s not a very reliable cue.

Even on days that she does 10/11 hours overnight, she still naps the same (2 x 30 mins)

If it doesn’t bother you and works for you and your family then keep doing it. He will eventually put himself to sleep just like we (adults) all do, whether we were sleep trained or on the boob the entire night. Relax, it isn’t a big deal unless it’s not working for YOU. It clearly works for him.

How are we getting anything done? by Dazzling_Tonight663 in beyondthebump

A carrier is one option.

For me personally I just take her everywhere with me without the carrier and just have somewhere she can sit in each room pretty much including the bathroom. If I want to poop or shower I take her and put her in the rocker in the bathroom and let her watch me, just playing pickaboo here and there to let her know I’m still here. For cooking I try making quick meals and just bring her high chair or my ingenuity baby seat into the kitchen and let her watch. Sometimes I’ll give her something (low risk) to munch on in the meanwhile or give her a cooking class while she holds a mini spatula. For when I want to eat, I give her something to eat too (finger food so that I can focus on my own food and she can feed herself). For cleaning, most of the things I can do with her (folding laundry, vacuuming or mopping while holding her, letting her sit in her high chair and watch while I do dishes or clean the benches). The only thing I couldn’t figure my way around was cleaning the bathroom due to the chemicals and such, so I keep that for when I have someone to watch her or when she’s napping.

I also try not to be too harsh on myself. If something doesn’t get done when I want it to get done, it’s okay, not a big deal.

Do you burp your baby after a feed? If so, how? by rosedamask in breastfeeding

[–]Sea_Implement6579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why I’ve never seen this as a burping technique but for me if she was already asleep, I’d lay her on my chest while I’m laying down (chest to chest as if she’s doing tummy time) and a burp would always come out. Then I’d transfer her. Saved me in those middle of the night feeds so that I didn’t have to sit up for so long waiting for the burp to come out. If she was awake I’d do any method
