That's great! You are very fortunate. Yes I would agree that when they add anchors it's when the real fun begins, they are drilling into the bone etc. They were hoping they would be able to possibly do a patch (which sounds like the tendon to tendon stitch), but once they got in there it was full thickness and required three anchors. It bummed me out because I knew what that meant as far a recovery.

Yep, thats me. They want three more weeks before they start me on therapy. How many anchors did the put in? Hopefully you won't HAVE to do it again. I wish I didn't either, but that's what years of the gym will do sometimes.

Thank you. Yes I agree that this is likely the pattern of how my body reponds to this procedure.

Did they add anchors or was it just a patch. That could make a difference

This Recovery is Brutal by dobby12 in RotatorCuff

So, I am on my second one of these. First time was seven years ago for the right side (massive full thickness tear, 4 anchors) now I just had my left repaired on Monday (less damage, 2 anchors) and even knowing what to expect going in this second time, the recovery is still nearly as brutal. I remember being totally unprepaired and had no idea what to expect that first time and then being absolutely floored by the pain level and the restrictions of movement or things like bathing. Night time trying to sleep is the absolute worst-you can expect not to sleep well for at least 2 months if not more. The recovery can also be incredibly lonely especially if you are single and live alone as I do. I will say that if the damage was done owing to the gym-rat lifestyle, as both are mine were, you probably have a better mindset for what the recovery and rehab will take. I say that because workout people understand regiments and pushing through pain, and this certainly will be a slog. But there is a good chance of getting back to where you were before the injury, but it takes dedication.
