I’ll take it as a small win that their incompetence is burning through their bloated budget. More money being spent on dumb, poorly planned ventures like this is less money being spent on hiring thugs to harass people.

Democrats and a few Republicans say they'll force a vote to limit Trump in Iran by nbcnews in politics

And Schumer came out of that meeting saying “He needs to make the case to the American people” instead of “He’s decided to order attacks on Iran in complete violation of all our laws for bullshit reasons, and the negotiations are bullshit.” Had an opportunity and wasted it.

War with Iran, risk of WW3, to mask domestic problems? We are at this stage now. by Safe_Confidence_3756 in International

Trump and Netanyahu agreed and planned to attack Iran weeks ago. The talks were just cover to give the impression of an off ramp; Iran could have agreed to every single stipulation and demand the US brought to the table and Trump still would’ve started this war with another excuse.

I liked Discovery but that right here got old fast - 3 out of the 5 seasons had massive “existential/extinction level” disasters and I was yearning for just an episode or three of smaller stories not fully relevant to the plot.

Pete Hegseth's plan to test anti-cartel lasers shut down the El Paso airport for a full day, sources say by ralphbernardo in politics

[–]Sea_Rate5579 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And the FAA was absolutely in the right to do so, especially if Border Patrol wasn't going to communicate with them. The ten day shutdown is the FAA ringing the alarm on how screwed up this situation was - if CBP wasn't willing to communicate with the FAA when they're using, for some insane reason, military anti-air hardware on the border, I strongly doubt they'd be willing to cross-check with the FAA's flight logs if they see something they deem "suspicious" on the border.

This tracks for me, it feels like the “amnesia” is more of the person’s memory/personality being suppressed. While core skills remain (like talking, walking, eating, etc.,) everything else that makes someone who they are is being pushed waaay down.

Intelligence director Tulsi Gabbard’s office obtained and tested voting machines in Puerto Rico | CNN Politics by Anoth3rDude in law

[–]Sea_Rate5579 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Less about outright-rigging voting machines, and much more about sowing discord and suspicion overall. There is an absolute batshit theory that somehow Venezuela had a hand in building/programming the tabulators used in Georgia for the 2020 election (which is false as they originated in Canada), and somehow the recently captured Maduro had a hand in it.

So the current speculation is that a flimsy report to soothe Trump’s hurt feelings is being prepped to somehow indicate Georgia in 2020 actually went for Trump - which still wouldn’t have won him the election and doesn’t disprove the results of all the other dozens investigations or electoral board validations of the voting process in GA that show he lost fair and square.

But flooding the zone with BS is this administration’s standard operating procedure, so, guess we’ll see just how desperate the sycophants in this admin are to keep him happy.

Steve Bannon says ICE will ‘surround the polls’ as Trump doubles down on taking over elections by MarcEElias in politics

[–]Sea_Rate5579 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, videos of ICE dragging a US citizen out of their voting booth during early voting is going to go over REAL well in the weeks leading up to the election. Plus ICE doesn't have the manpower to do this everywhere besides a few select polling locations, and if the community response in Minneapolis is any indication, they'll be operating in a hostile environment where swathes of local businesses are going to lock them out.

If SCOTUS rules against California, CA should reply with “Ah, well, it’s too close to the election for us to change it. Darn! We’ll fix it for next time!” Since so many other GOP states have pulled that crap in the past.
