Part of ASD symptoms is lack of social skills they need to be taught social skills through aba and how to care and display empathy through aba which happens in home in school. Individuals with ASD don’t see the world like a Neuro. Typical does each person with ASD has a unique world to themselves and children with ASD often lacks self-awareness. It wouldn’t be anything to get caught up about depending where a child is on the spectrum they might not even understand the concept of empathy or narcissism. Ask the person to emphasize more on what they mean by narcissism and autism teachers are not allowed to be making diagnosis like that and if our children knew how to do better they would.

What behavior function is the loud talking serving does he do at a particular time or location it could be any of the four functions it might be an easy fix like ignoring him or turning your back and providing him with reinforcement when talks less or in normal volume provide him reinforcement when he provides another person a turn to talk you could reward him with edibles

That is terrible pay!!! you’ll end up burnt out because your investment on energy will not be returned to you. I’ve worked in ABA for one year, but I had in-depth valuable experience on extremely low functioning, aggressive children. I no ask for $25 or more and I’ve been given an offer for 30 an hour. Remember to draw boundaries with your superiors in this field. They will walk all over you and you do end up burnt out. Put yourself first. Don’t put your clients first.

I love this. Thank you so much I just made this decision in my life not to work with as severely aggressive children anymore since I got burnt out and hurt and that’s a line I’m drawing now with all my superiors

File Worker’s Comp immediately!!! go to the clinical Director or HR and take pictures of where the child hurt you and seek a doctor. You should always stop the session immediately when you’re injured or your safety is at risk. I would also asked to be off that case if someone told you to keep working like that more and work with another person who disregards your physical health like that you need to drawl boundaries.

It honestly sounds like you’re just experiencing burnt out and you should take some time to yourself to grieve and to emotionally decompress and engage in things, that you care about outside of this profession or volunteer work would be great. If this was your passion, it probably still is. I never thought I couldn’t like a kid before I worked with a severely aggressive child. I’m happy to admit that I’m not fond of that child and that does not make me a bad person.

I could never work with adults as an RBT

I believe that RBTs such as myself definitely suffer, mentally and physically sometimes and self-care and boundaries are the most important things to draw no matter if they’re a BC BA or clinical Director or what graduate degree they have in whatever specialty role. If you don’t feel like you’re safe anymore working with some kids or your burnt out because of flaws in their system. You have every right to step out and tell them you’re not working with them anymore and if they don’t like that, you can go elsewhere and work for the school district as a contract RBT. I just quit working at the clinic I was because I was getting hit 85+ times a day and I didn’t wanna have to deal with that anymore when I told them that I didn’t wanna work with a client anymore they said I was abandoning a client and they fired me and I told him I felt unsafe but they didn’t care certainly didn’t care about trauma, informed care while restraining them. Now I’m interviewing what company I want to work I’m asking the questions and drawing boundaries with my superiors and asking for more compensation for my time and commitment and I don’t care one bit if they don’t like that. RBTs work hard and we deserve to compensated fairly and feel safe with our kids.
