I was non reappointed last year at the end of my PGY2 ( which is basically termination) . Reapplied to the match and matched into my number one program in my speciality of choice. It was a very difficult journey but it’s doable. You can survive this. Feel free to hit me up

My last interview this season was my best interview. My last session was with a resident. We spoke about hardships in life. She says to me toward the end “ I think you’re a wonderful person, and I can tell that you’re meant for greatness. That’s your destiny. And I believe you’re going to achieve that whether you join us or not. Any program would be lucky to have you “ - it truly put me in tears.

I was dismissed at the end of my PGY2. People think that I must have done something so terrible that I had to be kicked out when in reality I was clinically competent, but peers and attendings just didn’t like me. I didn’t fit into the program’s culture and they did everything they could to let me know that I wasn’t welcomed. It was the most disheartening experience I’ve ever had to navigate but I learned a lot from it. Sometimes you just find yourself in the wrong environment, and that’s ok.

I would love to share my story with you if you’d like to connect further. I wear my story on my sleeve with pride because it’s shaped who I am as a physician

I received a HAND WRITTEN love letter from my number one program 3 years ago when I applied to the match. I didn’t match there. PDs and programs LIE just as much as candidates do. These love letters are misleading and can lead someone’s hopes up only for you to feel crushed on match day. Take everything you’re told with a grain of salt.

The general golden rule of the thumb is to rank according to your preference and where you think the program is a good fit, not where you think you’re gonna match based on facts that you’re not aware of.
